Double Bass 5ths tuning strings

I've been toying around with 5ths tuning on DB (it really does suit a bow quite well) and am really curious to try out GDAE starting at a note below the A string (as opposed to CGDA). I'm using Corelli lights for regular play but am curious what I could to do solve the problem of the A&E strings (the regular A tunes down to a G just fine and the D can stay as-is).

I'm not a fan of the G tuned up to an A but I suppose I could live with it. The high E is where I'm confused. I know I could probably snag a heavier-tension high C to tune down to the A but I don't know of any makers that have a production string in the high E range.

Anyone?

You will be much happier with strings designed for the tuning rather than standard fourth tuning strings. High E strings are available from Pirastro in both Obligato and Passione formulas. You need to contact Adrian Mueller directly at Pirastro for them. The other strings are all available without any special orders though, several companies make fifths sets (CGDA) including Pirastro, Thomastik, and Velvet. Super Sensitive was working on a fifths set as well.

The A would be a solo-tuning G string.
For the E, indeed, that's a problem.
You may try to get in touch with Super-Sensitive, they've made special strings for the Violon Octet.
Also the Bass Viola de Gamba's highest string is a D.
Maybe a light gauge one could be tuned up to E.
Don't know what's the scale they're made for exactly, though.
