6 string bass with narrow string spacing

Hmmm. Mine is 17mm. Do you have a JP TRB? How old is your TRB?

6-string with narrow spacing? Samick Fairlane 6. 2 inches at the nut, 3.1 inches at the heel. I used to have one. Excellent bass. Built well, decent electronics, solid money-making tones, played well, looked nice too. Very well priced too. Ever since Greg Bennett joined Samick, their stuff has gotten surprisingly good. The Fairlane 6 is their top of the line bass.
Still, the best moderately priced 6-string you can get IMO is the Ibanez Soundgear SR506.

my Spector Legend 6 has a narrow spacing, maybe not as narrow as hte 506. But where price is also concerned its a good buy.

I ended up getting a Washburn XB126. Its a really good sounding and playing bass and a complete bargain at £130 (originaly £299).
I've been playing 4 and 5 string basses for the last 19 years so an extra low string has never been a problem but adjusting to having the highest pitched string as C rather than G is really weird.
Nevertheless, I'm really enjoying learning again on this one.

I ended up getting a Washburn XB126. Its a really good sounding and playing bass and a complete bargain at £130 (originaly £299).
I've been playing 4 and 5 string basses for the last 19 years so an extra low string has never been a problem but adjusting to having the highest pitched string as C rather than G is really weird.
Nevertheless, I'm really enjoying learning again on this one.

Hmm... I actually would be reluctant to recommend the SR506. It sounds and feels good, but the brown mahogany isn't all that durable. If string spacing is your top priority, I guess go for it. There are other basses with equally narrow spacing, but not at that price range (most of them have been mentioned already anyway).

since the newer LB series basses use Hipshot B style bridges, but string spacing should still be similar.
Warwick Corvette Standard has 16.5 mm spacing and an incredible neck. Also great sound. You can find one used in the $900 to $1,000 range. I own one and am very happy with it. This bass is definitely worth the money IMO.
I own an Ibanez SR506, and it's my main bass (I've been using my BTB 405 5-string as my backup one because my SR is in the shop to fix a pickup issue).
The SR is extremely playable and the tone on it is very clean. This is the tone I was looking for. The only complaint is that it is difficult to slap on it. But, I don't have much slapping ability anyway, so maybe a proficient slapper could slap on it (the strings are close together).
however, if you're looking for a bass to show off a lot of speed, technique and get a nice, Jaco-style whine out of your bass, this is the one. It can do that, or it can growl. I've done traditional jazz, modern salsa, and funk gigs with it...no complaints, and a lot of compliments.

bumping this ancient thread 'cause it's exactly what I'm looking for...any further recommendations for narrow 6-ers?
please stay away from the korean made Deans. I owned a 6 string Q series, thing was garbage.
I have owned a Euro made Q4 custom for 8 years now, I would never give the thing up. Awesome Quality, Great sound, great feel. The Korean lacked in all those qualities.
