6 String Pickup Recommendations

Heya All, Just Wanted to Ask for some advice.

I bought a REALLY Cheap 6 String bass off ebay, and the pickups have as much power as a 12 year old Girl, so hence I'm thinking of Replacing Them.

Some info:

34" Scale
Elm Body
Active Circuit
Aiming for a Growly Tone Like a warwick (I don't really expect to get that close to it)
Currently In a 2 Humbucker Config.

At the moment I'm Thinking Nordstrand Big Singles, as on this thread ( http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=652648 ), that's the Pickups that were used, and DLC are my Favourite band and have that tone i'm Trying to emulate.

I know Pickups alone won't get me that sound, but looking to get as close as possible tp that growly warwick-y Sort of tone.

Much Appreciated Guys.
Cal

Edit: On a Side Note, This Bass Eats Eveready Batteries at the rate of about One a week, Playing Maybe An hour a Day and NOT being left Plugged In, Any ideas why?

At that price point, there are a bunch of options... for growly bold tone, big singles pretty much rock as long as they're properly shielded (can be noisy IME otherwise).

Bartolini CB pups are pretty cool too, way less smooth than their typical soapbars.

If the bass was REALLY cheap, you may end up spending more on pups ;)
