60s Bubblegum Pop Name (not Beatles Covers)

Howdy

I play in a bubblegum pop band (Monkeys, Bobby Goldsboro, Dion, etc)

We've booked under temporary names while testing sets.

We play Casinos, VFWs, Outdoor etc.

My guitard likes the name "Fondelles".. I like "Paper Dolls"

Both are already used..

What would you name a band playing Little Red Riding Hood, California Dreamin, Latest Flame etc?

Thanks for the ideas..

We have 6 folks 2 vocals (M+F), Bass, Guitar, Keys, Drums... we do 6 part harmony.

We have booking agent looking for a final press kit and for us to pick a merchandising image.

Our Leader Played in a 50s band called "White Sidewalls" for a long time.. he's thinking "Fondells"

Cruel & Unusual Punishment! ;)

Funny ;)

The leader can nail just about any rock tune in classic or contemporary stuff. He's wanting to do bubblegum as it's the easiest to package and sell... he also points out that it takes a better touch and more talent to play "Happy Together" than "Long Train Runnin" or "Mustang Sally"

I couldn't get the tunes at first - once the vocals are locked in and you see the look on folks of this era it makes it tons more fun... Most bands that do 60s material either do Motown or a bad Beatles Cover.

Like most genres it's much more fun when the folks you're playing with are passionate about the material.

I'm glad you took my little joke in the spirit in which I intended it. :)

When I was in high school I was a member of the school's pop ensemble, which, like yours, focused primarily on vocals - with instruments relegated to supporting roles. Some of those songs were fun to play, largely because of the skill required to execute them properly, and because they opened my ears to excellent arrangements and harmonic subtlety: those pop writers and arrangers were far more musically sophisticated than most of the rock tunes that were getting air play at the time.

I sure hope you don't have to endure the same kinds of costumes we had to wear back in the late 60's; pink, electric blue, lime green, or cream polyester bell-bottoms and vests, worn with bright floral print shirts  were all the rage among publicists at the time, and would probably have fit right in if we'd been performing at Disneyland, or with "Up With People," but as a teenage boy I found them downright emasculating!

The Fondells sounds like you want to "fondle" somebody. I would not use that for the type of audience you want.

How about

The Minnesota Fruit Stand & Candy Company

The fondelles thing is the double entandre thing -- I think this is why he likes it.

Candy Company.. I like where this is going.

Anyone old enough to know of a vintage candy that's not being made - our target audiece is 50+.. Bazooka Joe is taken...

I'm sure ther's a candy the audience can relate to.
