610's and 810's. Who has them and REALLY needs them?

Oh, I never play that loud now. I can happily say that I have not set up next to even a Marshal half-stack in nearly 20 years! And when it does get loud, I always have plug in my gig bag.
Playing my 810 this weekend in a small club just because I can. 
More like if you could ever find one, they gone the way of the Dinosaur and apparently there are manufacturing delays on new ones from Bergantino. I never got to try one so I went SVT-610HLF
Well I'm impressed, I was too old to cart an 8x10 around since I was 17! (The year I started playing)
Of course part of it is that I've rarely had enough room in my vehicles - I can squeeze a couple cabs in to make a full stack of sorts though

I'm currently running an SVT7 Pro with a PN-410 paired with a PN115 (I know...I know...but I like it). Could probably use just one with DI but like one of the other posters said, "I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it." Plus the two light weight cabs are much easier to manage than one large but you still have what you need if you can't DI into the PA in smaller places. Just my humble opinion...I'm new here anywayAlrighty then TB-ers! Who of you ownes or owned a 610 or a 810 and really needs it? I've seen some posts of people around here, who regret selling there 610 or 810 and feel like they miss something now they have something smaller.
I really like 610's and 810's, but I doubt you need it if you play infront of a crowd of 50 man or so in a (local) pub

I almost lost my sanity a couple of weekends ago. I saw an Ampeg 410-HLF on CL that looked like it had never left the house for $350, and I suddenly had the rush of adrenaline to lift that on top of the one I own and be all SUPER-MEGA, so I started up the car and called the guy, who said it had already sold within minutes of posting. Thank God. What the heck did I really need that thing for? Once the fever subsided I returned to scanning for more basses.
LOL!! If it was the SVT 410 HLF, if really not worth it unless you only plan to run one cab. They're only rated at 4ohms nominal. The PNs are 8 so I can run with one or both with my head anyway. Although I do like the way the SVTs are built. The built in casters and handle are really convenient if you don't mind stooping over while you roll it...
Well, throw two of those SVT410-HLFs in parallel for two ohms total and my Carvin B1500 will absolutely rock the nation! Thankfully this model cab comes with "the towel rack" which would come in handy after I snap a vertebrae during the hoist and have to find something to hold on to once I bend and lock

Gotcha!! Bet it would!!! I can only run as low as 4ohms so that's why I went with the Pro Neo's. Plus they're MIA. Always a plus IMO. Sounds like you need a roadie my man!

I had an early blueline SVT with a matching 240W 810. Back then they came with 2 cabs because they were underpowered at 240W. That head through 16 10's at 2ohms was the best sound I have yet to hear. I only moved one but gig after gig trying to find somebody help me carry it up and down 26 step staircases got tired very quickly. So I got a Hartke 410 and a 115 when they came out and used the SVT through those. They were nice but were underpowered as well especially the 410. When the SVT started blowing fuses I got a Trace Elliot AH500X, didn't like it and downsized all the way to a pair of 1969 (blueline) B15n's and use them in stereo through a Boss chorus. SO, I've settled on two 15's but mainly because thats what the B15's came with. They're always enough. They sound similiar if not better than an SVT. To be honest with you I think your amp is much more important than cone size. Could you tell the difference blindfolded between an SVT through 215's or an 810? Maybe. If portability wasn't an issue I think everybody should own atleast one 810. I would still use two single 15's over a 610. If your going to lug around a 610 why not an 810. What I want to do now is take the heads of the B15's and just use the cabs with another SVT. The original square magnet 15's are still good but I have two spare EV's. I've never seen anybody do that.

The iron of the SVT + the speaker mass / cab design of the 810 = the sound in my head.

You're making me wish today's gig had a stage big enough to bring that, but alas, it's a BA112 v2 day. On the bright side, I'll be out of that gig faster than the horn players, which is good because it's outdoors in the Florida sun in the daytime!
