68 Telecaster Bass is MINE!!!!!!

Sweet! I love my '68 T bass as well. In fact, sometimes I guilt myself into playing one of my other basses, because they're all just hanging on the wall collecting dust since I got my Tele...
For recording this thing is just fabulous -- I just did an ep and never once thought to put it down and play something else... One song has been released on the 'Off the Floor' album - link is below in my sig...

A guy I knew, who worked as a roadie for some really big acts, said that was easy to deal with. "Just get your hands on a Telecaster bass for the show," he said. He went on to explain that it didn't have a huge number of tones - but it had this big fat unbelievably deep roar that would cut through anything, no matter how big the room or if you were playing outdoors. So I rented a beat to hell used one from a music store that knew me well, and it was everything he said it would be.

Later on I played with it at home some more before returning it, and discovered it had a lot more than one tone in it when you reduced the volume and put it through a B-15. In that setup it was capable of some really cool almost upright bass sounds and some nice jazz shadings. And the one I played had this big chunky yet still very comfortable neck profile. I wanted to keep it just for the neck, but the store had a buyer lined up and wanted more than I had to bump him and sell it to me. So I forgot about TBasses for many years. I'm glad to see there's a revived interest in them lately. They're a really classic Fender bass with very much their own sound and feel.

thanks for the kind and informative words. i was making the capacitor work for me last night plugged into my SVT and i don't think i've ever heard such a sweet sound. it is strung with flats now and i plan on changing nothing on it. the bridge is kind of weird how the strings just kind of flop around but they seem to stay in tune even when i dig in pretty good with a pick. the sound in the music store is what got me to buy it.
