70's reissue Jazz Bass

I looked at some of the 70's decals, and the J on the MIA and vintage jazz's decal is vastly different than the one on the MIM. Although its minor it should greatly affect playability :hiding:

Kinda bummed to hear about the bridge, if I was paying 700 I would expect they got that right atleast...

Finally, a B&B Jazz without the ultra-thin neck of the GL signature. :D Perhaps I can talk the SO into purchasing me one in Black with a Red Tort 'guard and a Gotoh 201 for Xmas... enough time will have passed since my last purchase then, and I'll have sold off several basses as well to "deserve" a new one, especially one some moderately priced yet pretty well stocked in features.

And I can tell you with out hesitation that if either of the USA Fenders had a bridge that was not centered I would have taken them back. Again I'm truly gald Fender has made a bass that so many of you are gassin' for but please don't buy a bass that is poorly made just for the sake of gas. Again just MO.

I`d happily pay half for the mim and take 5 minutes to readjust the bridge. After all, the bass is completely made in the us, and put together in Mexico. BTW, i also own an original 72 JAzz, and the bridge is misaligned, so I guess fender got it right!

I think it has to do with fender not wanting to compete side by side with the vintage reissues. If they made them look identical, they´d be killing the sales on the higher end model. That`s probably why the neck looks pale and the guard is not the exact same one.

If the bridge is actually bolted off center.... the only fix is to plug the holes and redrill for the bridge bolts, or replace the bridge with one that has side-to-side adjustable saddles.

I spoke about the "hot rodded" jazz bass and merely pointed out that it IS an over priced bass not worth the money imho! It is not a MIA RI bass but a parts bass with MIM tuners and neck plate, cheap dots (markers) for inlays. They add SCN pups which are noiseless (I own a FMT V in which I payed $1800 with these) on this a "passive bass" and a BaddassII bridge and want $1800 bucks? You got to be kidding!!! I own 11 Fenders including a Candy Apple Red w/matching headstock 75RI jazz. Mine is 1 of 140 in the USA made truly with ALL MIA Fender bass parts! I payed $1500 total with Real C&C vintage case and all hardware and case candy. There was no bashing in that post just pointing out what's real!!! And by the way Iv'e been playing for 37 years, I know hype when I see it! That new 70's jazz is on the money :D

Nice bass, really nice. I'd check out some Duncan Antiquity IIs , or some Lindys, there designed for the 70s style bass , a lot more pop in them too , & IMO also better than the stock Fender pick-ups , that it came with, especially the Lindys , they rock, but thats just MO. Either way you got a sweet bass there.

I would buy this bass and take the wait and see approach. I would play it for awhile and then make a decision. I have a bass with Fralins in it and it is my staple bass. Fender "vintage 75's" would also be a good choice for this bass!

I was happy to pay $1499 total. And it came with the $299 G&G gold plush-lined/gold-plated hardware case that IIRC the custom-shop basses come with, lacquer (not poly) finish (body and headstock), all the stuff I want (pups and bridge), etc, etc, etc. I'm TOTALLY THRILLED with my WONDERFUL BARGAIN. And, so are the other Hot Rod owners. Why does that anger some people?? :rollno: Can anyone explain why or how a NON-owner of a product can have such a problem with it :eyebrow:?? JEEZ!!! We know what we bought, and we love it!!

Back on topic: I like the look of these 70's basses! Surely not all of them have the bridge issue. I hope some show up at the GC someday, I'd like to give 'em a testdrive. :)
