8 and 9 String Basses

For 5 string basses its standardly tuned in B E A D G
for 6 strings theres one more higher string
for 7 strings theres andother higher string

and for 9 strings theres another higher and another lower

but for 8 strings, is there a string lower than B or would you have to get a 9 string for that?

You can string them either way. Some string them BEADGCFBb, some F#BEADGCF, and some BEADGCEA. I have seen people with five, six and seven stringers with a low F# string.

dont forget that when you hear people talking about 8 strings many times theyre referring to a bass with EADG tuning with octave strings

it really depends. you can pay anywhere from 3 to 6 thousand on a custom conklin.
