800RB settings bridge pickups

My goal is getting my 04 MIM J bass as fat as possible on the bridge pickup and I'm fairly new to 800RB but recognize it's a great amp.

So far I am flat EQ or noon but mid contour engaged and pre volume and boost at 1/2 or noon with master volume barely cranked.....Is this about the right settings to get the bridge pickup fat without the weird kind of honk Jaco tone?....I love Jaco listen to him and Pat a lot but not what I'm after.

With the mid contour NOT engaged I'm not liking the tone...also have a very slight compression and a exciter/limiter I sometimes use.

I use rounds and stock ceramic J pickups which I'm fine with.

Curious if some of you use a similar or same setup? Thanks in advance as always !

WARNING - Don't ever run the 100w amp below 8 ohms!

The key to the old RBs is understanding the distortion produced by the Boost/Master.
"Riding the rails" on these GKs gives a gritty growl that really cuts, and they are loud AF for the rated wattage especially into 4 ohms on 300w amp.
They are still tight in terms of transients, even when pushed to the limits!
IME so much better than the crappy "safety" compressor like the DDT built into '80s Peaveys.
RBs don't have infinite bottom end like modern bass amps, they were voiced brighter and have the Low Cut switch.

I have an '87 400RB but it's been belly-up for a while...
Lived in a jam house with an 800RB (and Trace Elliot 4x10 combo)!
Usually turned up the 60hz to 2:00, if the Contour wad engaged I'd boost the 250hz and 1K a bit.
I generally had the Pre volume around 50%, Boost 50-100% and varied Master depending on volume needed.

Thanks cab is 8x10 at 4 ohms...not running the bi amp feature but thanks for the reminder the 100 watt is 8 ohm only....it's brutal loud as it is absolutely !

It's a very impressive amp, the clean tight tone and EQ is obviously voiced well ......I will try low and hi.mid boost a tiny bit as my settings seem similar to yours but with this bass I do NOT care for mid contour being off but I will try varying the boost.

I'm talking bridge J pickup only I tried dialing some neck pickup in but need to experiment more thanks .
