What about 2x(4x10) versus 1x(8x10) ??? Would it be the same, with the advantage of the first one being modular?

the 8 x 10 definately produces the exact sound I want.
For the record, I'd like to point out that I've never made fun of farmers driving tractors.
With regards to backline support, monitors, stage wash, etc: It is possible, given a little thought, to produce a robust full-house sound while maintaining the stage volume at a level low enough to carry on a normal conversation.

Ampeg is in the 160's I believe.

Nope; stairs are easier, too. My coffin cabs don't have tiltback or casters, so there're a two-man carry unless I have a dolly handy, in which case stairs are still no problem. In narrow stairwells, it's MUCH easier for two people to carry each end of an 8x10 or pull up a dolly than than to have to bearhug two 4x10's and hope you don't get your arms bashed.
Yowza! Where at? I'm from Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, and graduated from UF.For the record, Im going to be using my 71 SVT and 810 plus my 400+ and Schroeder 3101212 at our bar gig on Friday.
You guys dont realize what you are missing out on.
Any idea where to get some nice skid bars or w/e for my NV 610? I usually just carry it up and down stairs by myself (and sometimes my damn pussy guitarist has me carry an ****in heavy EV 215 up and down the stairs by myself too) and it gets old after a while lol. Other than stairs though, I find that my NV 610 is easier to lug around than my HT 210.
Getting a 100lb 4x10 up a narrow flight of stairs, even with two people, is one of the most frustrating things you can attempt in your musical career IMHO. I did it every weekend for a year and it was horrible.
8x10/4x12 ... not so bad, even solo.
It's easy with a 57lb 410 that you can pick up with one hand. I wouldn't try carrying two of them though. That'd just be showing off.![]()
That doesn't sound like any fun.![]()
Stairs are still much easier with an 8x10 than with a 4x10. You lay the 8x10 on its back and drag it up along the skid bars on the back. A 4x10 you actually have to lift.
I prefer moving an 8x10 to a 2x10. BTW. I never have to actually lift it off the ground. Its always leaning against something and when Im moving it through a crowd my arms dont fall off if someone doesnt see me comming and I need to stop behind them.
You probably havent tried moving an 8x10.
