Seeing as how the stingray 4 had its 30th anniversary this year and celebrated that by coming out with a special edition 30th anniversary. do you think that next year there will be a 20th anniversary for the stingray5? If so would you buy it? why/why not?

A 20th anniversary 5 string MM?

lol, he means to say that the SR4 is 11 years more known. I think. He right though, the pickguard on SR5 do make it look a lot different from the SR4. and remember 4 strings are the MAIN bass, not only used by the most people in the world but its the original.

Are the anniversary basses any different besides the looks and the cost? Besides the fact that every bass sounds different.. Is there a distinguishable/substantial difference?

She's coming ever closer, and imo she's looking very yummy indeed! No pickguard, backloaded electronics, ash body with flamed maple top.

Bad news - I *just* bought a Stingray 5 two weeks ago and didn't know about the 20th anniversary model until now.
Good news - Mine looks so much like that one that I'm positive I could buy the anniversary model, sneak it into the house, and then secretly sell the one I have - and NEVER get caught!
Maybe I should plan ahead and remove the pickguard from mine right now....

Where do you put the dummy coil on a rear routed bass? Do you just stick it into a cavity in the back?

Found a picture on the one I just bought on my work PC. Sure, mine has a pickguard and black knobs, but I'm pretty sure my wife wouldn't notice the differences as easily as YOU guys would.

SR5s and Sterlings don't have a seperate dummy coil, they are built in to the pickup.
