Spraying with water works. My cat knows not to mess with my stuff now. Took care of that when I started playing and never have a problem. He also probaly doesn't like it because if I play loud it's coming from the cab and he has sensative ears so he keeps distant.

I had my other cat declawed years ago (only in the front) because she was attacking my family and others quite often, I felt terrible but it seemed our only option, my mom has scars around her eyes from it. She seemed to be fine after healing though, she would "sharpen" her nubs on my stuff, but no harm in that. What a cutie.

Oh the difference between getting cats fixed and getting them declawed is that we get ourselves "fixed", we don't do the equivalent to our hands, so it should only be in a very durastic situation.

Instead of using a spray bottle and spraying the cat a few times with a puny stream of water why not blast the little sucker with a super soaker so it would get the message right away. Or better yet a fire hose.

I caught two mice the other day. By your logic, this is the equivalent of sneaking up behind someone while they're eating and breaking their neck.

Except mice are not people. Cats are not people either, and they don't have fingers, they have claws.

And the Canadian government doesn't subsidize Godin guitars because they use wood in the manufacture of the product, as you promoted in another thread. I don't think I would propagate nonsense spouted by a salesman.

Umm... are you talking about a vasectcomy, because that's quite a ways away from what happens when you neuter a male cat or dog. The other term for it is castration. There's a big difference (or two).

As a homemade psychiatrist / psycolog my diagnose is that people with low self esteeam prefere dogs and the stronger individuals like cats more.
Why? Because you can tell a dog to do what you want, but a cat does what he wants to...

My Hartke Kickback suffered the same fate.
They've also had the odd go at my Trace 1x15, but I'd leart the lesson by then, and generally throw a blanket over then (the cabs, not the cats!)

Yeah, my Genz Benz cab has shredded corners from various cats over the years. These days I shut the door to the music room and try to correct the behavior when they do try to scratch it which is almost non existant now. Having a good scratching alternative is needed. I would not delcaw them. Declawing is actually removing the entire last bone segment (like removing your fingertips) plus it can cause side effects like the cat not being able to use a litter box anymore because it will irritate the new 'nubs' and so they will piss anywhere but the box.

side rant: Who ever thought it would be a good idea to cover a cab in carpet anyway? Even w/o the cat scratching issues I despise that my Genz is covered in that stuff. It becomes a big lint magnet catching everything including pollen from transporting it around outdoors which means I have to use fricken hepa filter vacuums on my cab, no musician should have to do that. Oh and when it is raining outside and you have to carry that thing 30 feet to the club then after the show the cab smells like a wet sock! argh...

The real solution is to stop supporting the cab manufacturers that put the rat-fur on cabs. Everyone could & should be using the modern spray-on solutions. Why in the world do they still put carpet on cabs? CHEAP
