A $500 Cat Scratching Post

There are lots of human amputees out there that lead full lives.

Our cat was declawed and fixed years ago , it was that or get rid of it due to rental issues when we moved across country.

She used to tear everything up, not anymore

IT'S NOT THE CATS FAULT!!! Speaker cabinets shouldn't be covered with carpet. It was a stupid idea from the beginning. The carpet soaks up liquids and absorbs the beer-nicotine-urine stench from the clubs where you play. And if one of the patrons throws up on your cabinets you will never get rid of the sour cheese smell, not even with bleach. Carpet on cabinets is just plain moronic. So how did it happen? Because carpet is more durable? No. That's what covers are for. Besides, road gear belongs in road cases. Bass cabinet manufacturers did it to SAVE MONEY. Doing a nice Tolex job on a cabinet takes time and skill. The grain direction on the material has to be aligned properly (tweed or other patterned Tolex), the edges have to be precisely trimmed, the air bubbles have to be smoothed out, and you can't just fill a mistake or gap with a wadd of fuzz shoved into some glue. With carpet you can be quick and sloppy and nobody will know the difference. That's why manufacturers went to carpet. In the old days all bass cabinets used to be covered in Tolex. Thankfully, after thirty years it's coming back. Even Avatar cabs come in Tolex now. Don't mutilate your cat. Just get rid of those stupid carpet covered cabinets. A pair of those tolexed Aguilar DB210's would be nice in classic black. ;)

Humane? That's certainly debatable. And declawing can be done painlessly, after which, basically nothing of the cat's physical stature is affected. Not so with neutering. After neutering, animals personality and body often continue to change. You're altering their chemical make up.

Both are done for our benefit, not the cat's. I don't see how cutting their claws off is any better/worse than taking their reproductive organs off/out. Neither really complicates or impacts their domesticated life that much. Besides, they aren't your animals, so what business is it of mine? I *eat* other animals... taking their claws or sex away from them is not a big deal.

better idea..when the cat is clawing the cab..turn the mother on as high as u are comfortable with.( maybe even sum nice distortion).if its got sum juice..i dont think "kitty" will want to scratch it if it cant even hold on(u know what i mean) and if it can still hold on..it might get pissed when its ears start to bleed..simple solution..the cat learns to stay away..and if it doesnt leave and is permanetly deaf..its its own fault....cant saw u didn't "warn it"

I have three cats.
The room/close the door idea works. It really does.

But I'm all for the "associative" plan. You know, scratch cab+spray with water= wet pussy.

But I modified it a bit.
Kick the sh!t out of it once or twice, and trust me, it will stay away from your cab. Plus the pent up anger you have building inside will be released and you'll feel better too!

Or cover your cat in carpet, let him go nuts scratching himself.

Anyone who says cats are smart, well if they were so smart they wouldn't be pets!!

BTW, these are a GREAT buy if you don't like declawing.
I used the hot pink ones on my black cat. Funny as hell!!

NEVER declaw a cat. Nor throttle it!!!! :D ;)

I keep blankets on my cabs and they keep kitty away.

With all due respect:

- Neutering and spaying are avidly promoted by animal welfare advocacy organizations in order to control overpopulation. Overpopulation results in an increase in homeless cats, aka, starving cats. While you could argue that neutering is not necessarily for the specific cat's benefit, I would submit that it is more for the benefit of the cats that might otherwise go homeless, hungry and even killed on the streets.

- As for the negative effects of declawing, I would recommend reading the information posted on [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] If you are interested, Invalid Link Removed is a page which addresses the effects of neutering vs. the effects of declawing.
