you guys keep saying that they shouldnt care that the other band insulted his so why should you all care that he pee'd on someone's van? I wouldve done the same thing probably. sure, i probably shouldnt stoop to their level but why go above their level when they arent worth it? ill go down to their level and beat them at what they already are. im suddenly better than them on 2 levels. sure it's immature but i really dont care. if they're gonna look for trouble, their gonna get it. if not from me then someone else

If you can't see the difference between a singer goofing on another band and someone putting their dirty filthy smelly urine all over someone else's personal belongings, then you are not a smart person whatsoever. Hope you grow up one day, Junior.

if you cant see the difference between someone's filthy urine and calling someone a very offensive word because of their race or insulting them for everything they believe in then you still have a lot of maturing to do. Hope you realize this one day, mister.

Basically meaning the other is just as bad

There's a difference between a smart-ass remark and criminal vandalism.

Everything they believe in? You mean that they think suicide is bad? That's so deep. Who said anything about racial slurs?

either way, you make a smart ass remark and you're pretty much just testing murphy's law. if you're gonna provoke people like that youre probably going to get a reaction. for all you know, his band could have known multiple people who really did suicide and it could have really hurt them to hear that remark. what if someone was manically depressed and couldnt stop thinking of their friends who had already suicided and then something triggered in that person and they killed themselves? you wouldnt feel to good about that smart ass remark anymore if you found out you were the one to trigger that final reaction.

Making the remark is not a crime. Vandalizing the van and urinating in public is. You've got some very weird priorities.

Apparently, thinking it's cool to vandalize other people's property is a significant part of everything they believe in, too.

"A" makes silly speech about suicide when they're supposed to be entertaining fans. A tiny lapse of judgment, but not really a big deal.

"B" makes silly comment about suicide speech making light of it. Also a tiny lapse of judgment and also not really a big deal

"A" decides they don't like being "dissed" and they pee on van belonging to "B". A not so tiny lapse of judgment as it fails to take into account some possible consequences.

Such as: "B" sees "A" peeing on their van and decides they don't like being "dissed" so they come over as a group and there follows name calling, shouting, pushing, shoving, hitting, punching, shirts tearing, teeth flying, blood flowing, bones breaking, cops arriving, people going to jail, people going to the hospital..... :eyebrow:

Many of us on TB are gigging musicians who play shows just like this and have seen this scene play out MANY times. I know I have. Most bar fights start by one guy making a tiny comment that the other guy can't let go so he decides to go one better. If the first guy also can't let that comment go and decides to go one better than that, you might as well call the cops right now and avoid the rush later.

Our very first show we were opening for a friend's band, he was playing with some high schoolers who seemed like they just wanted to be Metallica (I mean, if that's what you wanna do, go for it I suppose...). We're metally too but way goofy. Skits, stage props, stupid outfits, etc....

Anyway it was our first gig, small venue, so it was mostly just friends there, so no surprise we were well recieved, BUT the whole show the two dudes from the other band were heckling! Yes, really. The only people with anything bad to say were the high schoolers we were opening for.

After seeing that from them, and how much we were enjoying ourselves (compared to the other band especially, who were oh so "serious"... guitar solo played by sliding a middle finger up and down the neck, for example), our drummer friend quit them and joined us, we shuffled people around and are now a 6 piece.

Long story short, they were rude, so we broke them up. They never hired another drummer, the two left just found another band and joined them.

The idea of peeing on the van is to not be seen. and a lot of other illegal things.

if you had to pee, you had to pee. my band rocked the chili peppers version of higher ground, and we played it most times that we performed. this group of wieners playing before us played it just to be a-holes, and we just played it better.

band wars are childish, stupid, and so far away from music that they are completely irrelevant. if you take umbrage because they disrespected your message, then tell them that they disrespected your message, and take issue with the message. you dont have to start a behind the music band war, peeing on things, sleeping with their boyfriends/girlfriends, passing out fliers about how their g****rist has gonorrhea.

so figure out if you play music because of music or because of the fame and hype and prestige and a subconscious desire to live out vh1's behind the music or battle of the bands or whatever. sounds like your message is important to you, and music is an expressive vehicle for it. so sounds like music might be the reason you play. the only thing that should be peed on is the notion that any peon should be even an iota responsible for how you play your music or how you deliver your message.
