A stupid and ugly instrument. I don't need to play it to know this just like I don't need to drive a diamond encrusted porsche to know it's a pointless exercise in ego.

There is (was?) one of these on the wall at the Bass Exchange up in the valley. It's mighty impressive in person, but it sure looks heavy.

You know, that's a valid possibility. Short-horned designs like that tend to be neck-divey. Counterweighting the body would be one way to address that.
There are basses (like Mark King's LED-laced Status) that (in terms of appearance) would look silly in a dive bar but perfect for a huge concert hall.
This may well be one of those basses.
If I was King of Monaco, while my band uis playing the wedding of the Prince of Luxembourg to the Dutchess of Kent, I'd buy a Fender.
As opposed to what? Anything related to sound quality is opinion, thats a given. Want it more clearly? In my opinion, any supposed improvement on sound would ultimately be unnoticeable, additionally, this thing is gaudy as all hell. It looks like the kind of thing someone would buy in an attempt to appear rich.
Um. Yeah. I think that's the whole point. You don't buy a Rolls Royce for it's fuel economy. Last time I checked Epiphone didn't offer a bass with a solid gold lion's head on the bridge. This is bling, just in bass form.
Besides, when you are a king, you need those extra switches for things like raising and lowering the drawbridge n stuff.
Beautiful bass overall. I realize that tastes vary, but that lion's head is a bit much. I bet it's a boat anchor though.
They had one of those at the L.A. Bass Exchange last time I was there (years ago). It was way up high. Both in physical location and in price. 
I remember being intrigued by it and listening to the soundclips on their website. Their current website looks different than I remember and no clips to be found anymore. Oh well.

Next bass I sell is going to have five different strings so I can have Alembic, Fodera, Ken Smith, Sadowsky, and MTD in the title. 
Funny how people spend so much on basses like that, despite the fact that a Squier will sound essentially the same to all the non-bass players in the audience.
