A bit unsure about strings to use

So I currently am using DR Black Beauties
And they don't have a very bright tone
And they sound very nice when I'm playing stuff like Rage Against the Machine, but the problem with them is when I play stuff very fast like Disposable Heroes by Metallica. The tone isn't bright enough to accentuate each time I hit the string, and I was wondering if getting brighter sounding strings would allow me to hear the gallops rather than what I would call something that sounds like a mess
Perhaps my finger playing just isn't strong enough yet to properly play that kind of song with two fingers and I just need to practice more, but I don't really think that's much of the problem

I have this same bass, and the tone he has is pretty much the best I've ever heard and was hoping for something more like it on mine

DR black Beauties are coated strings AFAIK- & the coating-apart from making them last longer, make them sound a li'l duller than brand new UN-coated strings( IMO ) I'd try some ROTOSOUND stainless Steel strings (RS-66???? maybe I forget the actual 'model' No.s )- these've always been a great sounding & articulate string -again IMO! Then again -I didn't find DR coateds to be not bright either- so Each to his own.

see im telling ya get rotosound and also wipe them with doctor ducks axe wax afterward to kepp them sounding great for really long. The set on mine right now is over a year and a half old!
