Double Bass a car for my double bass

Curious about Sedans where the rear seats fold down (Subaru Legacy in particular). Does a DB fit through the trunk or can you only transport via front passenger seat?

I have an Impreza hatchback and it's been a great car but starting to think about a replacement and want to know my options with new cars these days.

I bought a Honda Fit about 8 months ago and it works great with my bass. The front seat folds back and with the back seat folded forward, I have about seven feet of room for the bass. I put the bass on its side against the passenger side of the car (bridge facing toward the driver's side) and keep it there with a bungee cord through the handle of the bag. This leaves me room for my amp and cabinet.

For the past eleven years, I drove a Honda Civic and put the neck of the bass between the front seats. This was sometimes problematic, since it was a stick shift. The Fit is way better and gets excellent gas mileage.

I don't think I could fit it in the new Fiat, without going through the roof....

Voila. You would be the cutest NY-based metrobassexual ever
