And that brings me back to my original point. You guys aren't getting great music (which to my mind implies both quality and scale) because you aren't paying for it. They don't get promotion because promotion costs money, often more than the cost of recording the album. That's what record companies really do, they front the money so the music just doesn't get made, it gets a real shot at getting heard because, as I'm sure you know, musicians tend to be insecure nut jobs and the last thing they're good at is promoting themselves. So even if it's good, music that isn't getting heard isn't going to move the culture forward. So yeah, it's your fault. Pay for music, especially the good stuff so there's enough money for record companies can do their job and musicians can do theirs.
I'm getting lots if great music. Its not my fault you're too lazy to look for it. The nature of the music industry now means that we don't HAVE to be spoonfed whatever trash the big companys shove down your throat. No matter how specific your tastes, its never been easier to find something that you will love.
As someone who supposedly loves music, is it not important enough to you to take a few minutes to look through what's available to find the great albums?
Why does an album have to "move culture forward" to be great? Who made that rule up? If Stevie had released the exact same album, but it only had the promotion to achieve a fraction of those sales, it would still be a great album.
