No, Schrodinger's cats lived before they invented color photos of cute cats in cardboard boxes. However, I do believe cardboard boxes existed in 1935. At least they did for womens' shoes.
I'm with the guy that wants to hear the wife's side of this issue. OP please at least tell us she's seen this thread!
This was meant as a humorous example of the trivial and unpredictable annoyances that can happen in relationships. But it has turned into an example of everything that's wrong with social media. I'm out of here before it deteriorates to ban hammer level.

Oh, I must have missed the point that it was humorous.
There is actually a set numeric point for every box collection, above which and below which the reaction goes in different directions. Below that quantity, they will tend to deplete and exhaust themselves, resulting in no boxes when you need one; and above that point, they will multiply until there are far more boxes than you'll ever need. That middle point is the proper box population to maintain the herd in ecological balance.
This is good logic. I find myself hoarding boxes because "I'll need these for some gear that's shortly going up for sale." Of course, I don't get around to it. The clutter of unused boxes forces me to recycle them. Typically, within a few days of disposal, I need to sell something and end up buying a box to ship it. Hence the value of living with someone who likes to shop. Helps drive down the transaction expenses of TB classifieds.
I keep boxes in case I might want to sell an item in the future, or return it, or if it's just right for my cheaper switchblades. Guitar or bass shipping boxes become cases for some of my orphans (musical instrument orphans, I mean).
Funny coincidence; the girlfriend from hell and I fought over the box my new lawn mower came in, just this weekend. I wanted to keep it until the mower was assembled and running, she wanted to give it to an unfortunate child to play with. We were each so selflessly willing to give the box up to the other that it was very infuriating. I ended up cutting it into neat little pieces and jamming her shredder. She cut off my left foot and used it to jam my mouth.
We slept in separate doghouses, and are meeting for breakfast tomorrow over dueling pistols.
Remember; for the lack of a box, The Kingsmen were lost.

This is one of the few threads on talkbass that's made me laugh out loud. Definitely one of the favorites.
First the speaker box turns out to be a cardboard box, then ethical debates crop up. There's also an excellent discussion on boxes in this thread as well. This thread reminds me of curb your enthusiasm.

Lol my wife knows better than that gear has a better resell value if you break the boxes down and store them for particular pieces. I heed the same for her valuables. Then again I throw most out I know I'm keeping with the exception of high end professional audio gear such as ssl, api, neve etc I keep those boxes in case I sellI'm glad my wife is afraid to use a saw.
