Yeah, they do this to ensure the cheese gets melted, but also to give the patty a little extra warmth before being served, providing the illusion that it is still hot off the broiler, even though its been sitting in a pan of its own fat for the last 40 minutes (the amount of time a batch of burger patties are allowed to be kept for before being thrown out).

Is this what turned you into a veggie?

vegetarians & vegans = lesser form of human being, IMHO

The only time I EVER buy a double is at In-N-Out. double-double either animal style or just mustard-grilled. That doesn't happen too often since In-N-Out is not in Texas. :(

bc

Where is closest for you? Arizona or Utah?

One day you'll have an In-N-Out of your own!
Im still waiting for them to start construction on this proposed new In-N-Out down the street from my work so I dont have to drive over to the next city for lunch.

Nope, I went veg 5 years after leaving there, and I didnt stop eating BK afterwards either, just never from the one I used to work at.

*edit: I meant to leave this part of my response here: I am sure you are kidding, but...

the rest of this response to this can be found in the 'Vegetarian Club Anyone' thread, so as not to derail this one.

I always eat there when we visit my relatives in Phoenix. I was introduced to In-N-Out when I spent the summer of '98 in northern California.

If you're vegetarian then what does In-N-Out have to offer that is good to you? Animal style fries I guess?

Secret Menu - Grilled Cheese Sandwich, Animal Style. Thick slab of cheese, pickles, grilled onions, spread, lettuce, tomato, mustard. When you animal style something they put on twice as many veggies. Also, animal style fries are delicious, but make me gassy, so I get regular fries with a side of spread. That makes me gassy too, but costs less, cuz animal fries are like $3. Grilled cheese is like $1.92.

I go back and fourth between wendy's and BK, but my preference is BK. In the last two years, I've been to McDonald's once, a week or two ago. My wife was driving me nuts for a fruit and yogurt parfait, so I conceded. I got a snack wrap.

OT, but still relevant: I cannot stand fast food fries of any kind. BK, Sonic, Wendy's; none of them ever taste good to me. at all.

To all that hate fast food fries. Try Checkers/Rally's. When I ate meat and lived in Florida, nothing beat Checkers and they always ran some kinda special burger for that week/month that was like $0.99. If I was to go eat a burger, and was in Florida, I'd get a big buford with bacon, large fries, and coke.

The problem with checkers/rally's is that they don't do double cheeseburger for 99c. Usually its just the hamburger or the swiss mushroom burger.

I like BK's double cheeseburger too among the list.. :)
