Also - you "get it", a "stack" is not a class D head on top of a couple of tiny cabinets where the entire rig is below your waistline

One side of the Crown is putting 275 watts RMS into the top 2x10" cabinet, and the other side is putting 450 watts RMS into the two 1x15" cabinets (wired in parallel). Both sides are getting full-range signal, I just parallel the inputs from the main out of the Alembic preamp.

Dude that rig is totally unrealistic and over the top. Nobody in their right mind would ever consider playing a rig like that. I mean come on. Who could ever justify the need of 2 19" rackmount tuners? This redundancy is ridiculous.

Well perhaps I should explain things a bit then, since I seemed to have assaulted your senses of what is ok and what is not.

The top rack (with the Bugera and Korg DTR) is used out live with one of the Carvin 2 x 10" cabinets for smaller gigs.

The middle rack (with the SVP-Pro) is used for large venues and outdoors with a Carvin 1 x 18" and a Carvin 2 x 10", that rig is 1,000 watts.

The bottom rack (with the Drawmer compressor, two QSC amps and the Symetrix EQ) is used to power the six Carvin cabs from the middle rack with the SVP Pro.

BUT that rack also does double duty as a PA amp rack, that is why the Symetrix EQ is in there, that does not get used for bass.

The Carvin 15" and 18" cabs have often been used as PA subs, and when I do that the amp rack powers those and some top cabinets, in a bi-amped configuration. When I have done that, I used two of the Carvin 2 x 10" cabs with the SVP-Pro/QSC PLX-1602 rack for my bass.

So yes I have on occasion used ALL of that stuff (save the rack with the Bugera) but not for a bass rig.

The racks are stacked up for:

1. Saving space, what am I supposed to do, just put them all around the room? Also I can wire up the cabs in different configurations, made much easier by having the racks all together

2. It looks cool, which is kind of the point of this thread don't ya think?

You can now dial back your outrage, with the realization that NO I do not use TWO rack tuners at once.

I'm still shaking with rage, but it is fading now that you have explained yourself.


Also, someone else has already pointed out that some obscure bassist from a band called The Who seems to have two in his rig.
Never heard of them. Probably because they use outrageous gear on stage.

Mid year 1967 Fender Bassman drip edge, same circuit as the later blackface Bassmans which of course preceded this. I've used it in small rooms, sounds good. Lousy dark picture, dig that wall paper! The Dual showman is also a '67.

Well Entwhistle is sadly no longer with us but the guy did die a righteous cool rock and roll death.

I assume you are being sarcastic about never having heard of them/him but if you are serious, give the track "The Real Me" from Quadroahenia a listen some time. The entire song is basically a bass solo but fits the song and never loses the groove.

So do you run both channels of the amp wide open?

With my rackmount rig (SVP Pro into a QSC PLX-1602) I thought I would "balance" the 2 x 10" and the single 18" with the gain knobs on the amp but as it turned out it sounded best with both channels wide open.

Both of my cabs I use with that rig are 4 ohms FWIW.

Showing my geezer age - only 2 bass amps ever struck me as cool - Ampeg Flip Top (had an original and reissue) and the original Fender Bassman tweed (reason why I got a TV Bassman 15).
Nothing else ever did it for me; certainly none of the more common ones posted on this thread. Geezer out. RIP Meatloaf.

I used to play through a Super Beatle here and then when I was younger, they sounded good with a bass, very tight which was very different from the dual Showman I owned at the time.

I saw him with The John Entwistle band in a 100 seat club in 1999 and he had at least that much stuff, it was the first time I had ever seen a rack strobe tuner and a bass with LED for markers. Everyone else had double stack of 412 cabs. They sounded great but John tripped the breakers with his bass amp two or three times, once right in the middle of a solo. They were not deafening like you would think.
They played the next night in a larger club with half the stuff, they sounded better in the first one though, it was almost like being in a rehearsal space with the band.

When I was 16 I saw a band with a bassist who had one of those (blue sparkle) and a Fender V (only one I've ever seen outside of pictures), the guy was great too, he played the solo to "Take me For a Little While", Vanilla Fudge and killed it, this was in 1969.

I played Trombone/Trumpet in a couple of bands where the bass player had one of these rigs. In both cases they used a pr of 200S cabinets instead of the matching 2000s cab. That's 4x15 D140's.

I had two Sunn 2000S cabs and used a Marshall Major with them, earthquake city, this during the early 70's. I had the 2000S head later but never used it much.
