A new lightweight bass?

Hi TB,

I currently play an LTD B205 5 string bass. I really love it but I also find it a bit heavy (and want something new). I only play at home and by myself or along with music (prog metal, jazz, rock), so I really don't need a stage or gig bass that can 'cut through' the mix and all that stuff. If it matters, I play though a Markbass Little Mark Tube 500 and an Eden D210XST. The brands that I like the most are Spector, Warwick, and Dingwall (in that order), but it's not like I have a lot of experience with different basses as my LTD is only my second bass. Carvin also looks nice because of the customizability.

Does anyone have any suggestions for basses I could look into? The Spectorcore 5 looks nice, but if it isn't much lighter than regular Spectors, maybe I should just save for one of those?

Personally, I don't see why weight is a factor if you only play at home. Do you play at home standing up? You won't like any Warwick if weight is the primary concern.

I play sitting and standing at home. So Warwicks are generally heavier? Good to know. I also don't want a small bass as I play 5 string and want a full scale for the B string.

Define "full scale?"

If you want an amazing B string it needs to be 37+" anything less and it will get overtones as you fret up the neck. Personally, I am fine with 34" B strings because I don't play my B string high up the neck. All I need out of my B string is a tight open B and I can work with the rest.

I have a 34" now and was hoping at least 35" for my next bass but I can probably live with 34" too. Are the Spectorcore basses significantly lighter than a Euro ReBop or Korean Legend...are those basses much better than a Spectorcore?
