Hey all, I'm having a lot of problems with my home PC. It is a "put together" box with a - shoot, I don't remember all of the specs so I'm going to guess here - P4 2.1, 1 gig of ram, Asus mother board and a legit version of Windows XP Pro. The computer had been running terribly slow, had been off of the internet for 8 - 10 months then got connected without any virus protection software for about 2 - 4 months. About a week ago I formatted EVERYTHING, both internal hard drives and loaded up XP from scratch. I immediately had to go to another computer to download drivers for the Ethernet and on board sound from Asus.com. I have yet to get my Steinberg 24/96 to work properly (some things work sometime). MAC USERS READ THIS - I work as a digital photographer and have a Dual 800MHz PowerPC G4 with 1.5 gigs of RAM running OSX 10.3.9 at work. I also have a legit version of Cubase LE for the MAC that I can install. Can I put the ST 24/96 sound card into the MAC and see if it works? Do I need to find drivers on the internet for the MAC or does the core audio (?) provide this? I'm trying to figure out if this card still works or not . Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks, Benner
Hey Double B. After some google-fu it looks like there's some mac drivers for 10.2.xhere Not sure about 10.3 though. There's also windows drivers there too if you want to try it with XP again.
Hey hey, thanks bassguitar. So I guess I can't just plug in and play with the ST24/96 card,... I still need to download drivers? It's worth a try. I need to figure out if the card is flaky or is it the computer. I have a 1.7GHz, 256 RAM Toshiba laptop that runs the video game Castle Wolfenstein better and seems to be running a freshly bought Presonus Firebox better with lower latency times and better firewire connectivity - I plug it in and the Firebox light turns blue,... with the desktop I'll have to plug, re-plug and then sometimes re-boot. Are you playing anywhere around T.O.? My band just played Ciao Edie on Colleg west of Bathurst,... great small, fun gig.
I don't know much about cubase/steinberg products, but I believe that there is a Jaguar compatible driver for the 24/96 on the Steinberg FTP site. Look in the Archives section.
Sorry,....... but what's Jaguar? Sorry, I should say which one is Jaguar? OSX 10.3.9? That's what I have.
Isn't the card older than 10.3? I'd recommend download the most recent appropriate driver... Jaguar is 10.2x, but I'm pretty sure the driver will work with 10.3.x . There's a readme included with the driver that should tell you either way.
I bought the Steinberg ST24/96 sound card in 2000 with a PC running Millenium. It was fantastic! I was always recording,... not spending my time trying to get the thing to work along with other computer problems. and lots of it! I should have just left it and bought another computer for gaming, surfing and other personal stuff.
