My first Ray! ok, sry, brag over, moving on... I'm not sure I'm crazy about the clear pickguard, and was wondering what some of you guys think would look best. I think I'm leaning towards either black or black pearloid.

If your first thought is , "ugh, another pickguard thread", feel free to go about your business.

I don't think anything other than clear would look right with that finish. That bass shouldn't have a pickguard on it at all really...

If it were mine (yes i'm jealous) I would have an airbush artist match the pick guard to the finish, or leave it clear. it is just too darn sexy the way it is.

I'd stick with the clear PG, too. The blue sunburst is unusual and stunning at the same time!

I'd say leave it, but if you must have something, white pearloid. It'll look like a lazer is charging up, and firing the neck.

I agree with the majority that this finish needs a clear pick guard, if you're going to have a pick guard at all.

If you want to give it some additional visual impact, I'd say an abalone would be my choice in a close second place. The blues and black should work *really* well on it. Then if you still don't like either of those options a black pearl is my third.

id say take off the pickguard- but i did that on my previous stingray- and recall putting it back on pretty quickly- so it cant have been that great an idea.

id like to see it with a black pickguard- and- if thats too dark- then the suggestions for a black/gray pearly thing would be cool too.

great bass- though i dislike the concept of a clear pickguard.

I have the same Blue Dawn color bass (2007 version) with a factory black pickguard.

I would be inclined to just leave it the way it came from the factory. But if you want to see what it would look like with black, then here's a pic....
