Well, it's not about moral, it's about negative energy ..
Though I'd never consider the gear as mine either, I'd just keep them where they where until the dude who really is involved with them would show up.

A serious real life situation where i need advice

Well, it's not about moral, it's about negative energy ..

Thou shalt not steal. You are trying to justify holding on to stolen merchandise. You are not in a position to say "I have your stolen merchandise...take the $100 I want to offer you for it or leave me alone."

You are correct, it's about negative energy...and you are suggesting that it continue. So, what are you adding to this? It's certainly NOT positive energy...
You know, I thought the thread title "A serious real life situation where i need advice" was a little over the top when I read the initial post but the OP has turned this into the serious situation he claims to need help with; one that did not exist until he made the decisions he has made.
you gotta see it from the store's point of view, imagine you were to sell person A something,(a new bass for example) and said that they could pay it off a little at a time, a year later you haven't got any payments, and want the money or the bass back, and all of a sudden, person A's bandmate is in possession of the bass, and wants to buy it cheaper because it is used??!?!?! would you be ok with that? when it left you it wasn't used.

If something belongs to you, it does, and if it does not belong to you then it DOESN'T! even if it's been lying around your garage for a year and a half.
now, I aint no angel myself, and my moral compass might be a bit off at times, but since they know you have the mics there aint much to do. If you'd just kept your mouth shut about it to easy they would've never known you have them, and you'd be homesafe.

I don't think the police will get involved and I agree that it is probably a civil matter. The store's deal is with "Easy" and not you. How do you really know that they belong (or should belong) to the store? Do they have serial numbers on the mics and a receipt? And how do you really know that "Easy" didn't pay for them. Maybe he did and they've heard he skipped town without his stuff and are trying to claim it. Unlikely, but you never know...
In any case, you made a reasonable offer to pay for the mics. You are also allowing them to pick them up which is reasonable as well. If they want delivery, you can tell them to make arrangements with "Easy" and you'll be happy to give them to him.

Even if the police do show up (which I doubt they will), you can explain that a former band member left some equipment at your house and that you would be happy to return it to him. You have no relationship or obligation to the store and the burden of proof is on them to show they have claim on the items.

If you know for a fact that they are unpaid for and belong to the store, you could always return them and consider them having been a free rental too. 
The OP claimed to have two mics. The store claimed he had three mics and a mike-stand. That's what D.Don was saying - they claimed he had more than what he did. The OP is on the hook for just the two mics at this point.
Well, I don't like other peoples problems, world is full of situations like this one and I try the best I can to stay out of em..
I have a story with a dude that owes me back my Akai MPC60, he was supposed to buy it, we had have business before, I trusted him and put the piece in his studio..
4 years has passed, no machine, no money, and every-time he promises me to return it, he calls me 2 hours before and cancels .. and studio is gone...
What could i do.. nothing, not even if I heard that some dude had bought an mpc cheap from him ...
So I pass, and don't give a frakk, sometimes you loose, sometimes you win, in the end, it all comes back to ya...

If and when you do return the mics; I would request to see a copy (or original) of the invoice with Easy's signature. I would also request some sort of receipt or something in writing to acknowledge that the items have been returned.
Who knows, Easy might show up at your doorstep in two weeks and demand that you return his mics to him!

you said you have have it now you have to return it , tell them to pick it up, don't have to go your self and deliver it
