A short lived NBD :(

View attachment 3756010

I had ordered an Eastwood EB-1 a couple of weeks ago and it finally arrived today. Was very excited to review this and do a head to head against the Gibson LP Jr. Tribute, but that joy was short lived. I noticed mile high action upon taking it out of the gig bag, and then I noticed the damage....

RIP :(

Bummer. I will suggest, if you end up with another one, I’d be very careful with it.

Really sorry to see the NBD delayed by a shipping snafu and hope you get a replacement quickly and safely. If I understand the design, its semi-hollow with real F-holes? Kind of like a Hofner contemporary with some kind of block inside? If its not solid, there must be a block inside to make that bridge work and guessing that the semi-hollow design contributed to the demise so shake her easy when you get the new one and let us know. I'm sure this would benefit from the Dimarzio EB pickup replacement as I put one on the Epiphone version of this a few years back. Nice bass, but it didn't sound as good as the Hoffy. Good luck mate!

Thanks! Not plan on modding it other than seeing if the hipshot three-point bridge will fit. Going to do a review and comparison to the Gibson LP Jr. Tribute, and then I'll probably flip 'er :).

That's a real shame. There's so much joy in getting that new toy, only to be crushed.

On another note, love the blue and cherry sunburst color schemes on the two in the background of the first picture. And I'm normally not a "grain showing" type of person.

Yup! I'm fortunate enough to have many other toys to occupy me in the meantime. Very thankful for that during these crazy times.

And thank you :). The FGN J Standard DE (the blue one) and the Conklin GTRP-4 are two of my favorites :). It's kind of funny, I kind of like 5'ers more than 4's in most playing situations, but all the basses on my wall are 4 stringers.

That's what you get for buying a Gibson clone.

A real Gibson would have broken at the headstock.

LOL! It's funny because it's true.

The second bass I ever owned (first being a Samick P copy), was an Epiphone EB-0. I got it for my first big performance in the pit orchestra of my high school musical back in 2002 or 2003. Let me tell you, when I let go of the neck, the bass transformed from an instrument into a heat seeking missile. The headstock would seek out any and all music stands, instruments, and faces with the intent to destroy. Headstock never fell off though :)

Pity.. the bass looks beautiful otherwise.

Nothing a little buffing won't fix.

Just kidding. Sorry about your disappointment.

Buffing + Elmers glue= Good as new!

Not a big deal, but a bass is a bass and a broken bass is a sad thing. Though a replacement is being sent, I've contacted my tech to see how easy this would be to glue and repair. Might try my hand at a refin ;).
