A thinner Fender P 5 string neck anyone?

Hey all, I'm kind of damn to playing my stingray5 ever since I purchased it, and I love it, but I do use a Fender Precision basses a lot as well and well 4 strings just don't always cut it, I need that 5th string in many instances and the standard Fender 5 string Precision is way too wide at the nut and string spacingwise, well string spacing can be modded by swapping a different bridge, but what about the nut string spacing? Any of you out there own one of these with a narrower neck 5 string P bass that isn't custom shopped? I'm looking for a P bass that has a neck spec'd similar or identical to MM Stingray5, for some reason I feel right at home whenever I pickup that bass, it has the perfect spacing at both ends of the strings, but I'm not always out for the round sound of the Ray, so that's when I'm looking for a mellower thumpier P sound.
Any help of which models may have the neck I'm looking for would be a great help and really appreciate any info.
I only know that there was a Jazz 5 string in late 80s to early 90s called the Jazz Plus which had a 5 string variant with a similar neck feel to a stingray5, only problem is I'm looking for a Precision and it looks like they never made the 5 string variant in the Precision Plus series.

I have the same problem as you
I am thinking.....A "Status" SR5 neck matched to....a fender body...or????????

I have an HS model Sr5 that the neck pickup gets sort of P bass like

Buy a used SR5 or SUB or the new Sterling Ray 35 and put a P pickup in the right position

modding a MM SR5 was something I thought about, only problem the P pup wouldn't be centered like the standard fender P pup because the MM pup's in the way for correct positioning, it can be positioned like that of a p deluxe fender though which is slightly offset towards the neck. And while I'm writing here, any experience with an ESP Serveyor 5 string? I checked it out on YouTube, seems to have the same neck and string/nut spacings as the MM SR5 and does seem to sound like a P bass, but then again it's YouTube plus crappy computer speakers, may be a bit misleading, in any case looks like a good bass to try out. Thanks for all the suggestions, I've considered all of those, but eh, not my cup of tea, think the surveyor 5 ESP modded with a p pup in between the two emgs would do the trick

My P Bass Amer V is a "monster" with the wide neck. I just put Roto's on it , even better. I am sure there are 5 string basses with narrower necks, I was thinking of getting a Jazz deluxe 5 . Still, I love this bass the way it is.....

Fender uses the same necks for its AS Precision and Jazz five strings. I think the only difference on the Jazz Deluxe is the blocks and binding.

Yeah, to get true P bass position, you will have to remove the MM humbucker.

The older Fender Jazz 5vers have same string spacing as Stingray 5 necks

Maybe you could find one of those and put in a P pickup instead....or just use the neck pickup

The S in my HS SR5vers is very old school and captures a great fat neck growl type sound...check them out too.

Hmmm...an HS 'ray you say? never tried one, always stayed away from stingrays with more than 1 pickup for the prime reason that you can't switch between bridge pickup configurations on the 5 string that is. But perhaps I'll give it a shot if I see one in a Guitar Center, but hey that's a good idea on the "old" Fender Jazz 5er, althoug I'm not sure which ones you mean. The only one I know for sure that has the thinner nut and string spacing is the Fender Jazz Plus V which was made in limited batches between '89 and '94 and is really hard to find at this point, I was looking at one about a week ago on ebay in silver black burst finish, really sweet looking too, and the seller described the nut and string spacing dimensions there which is what led me to wonder if there was a P bass variant of the Plus series, turns out there were none in 5 string versions, but adding in a P pup in that bass is definitely an awesome idea, too bad the auction is over, don't know why I didn't think of it earlier. But hey if you know of any other old(er) Jazz 5er series with a slim neck, let me know.
