A thread for with which to vent.

Ok, so I am glad I participated, as perhaps it made a small difference (at least in MY mind). I was awakened at 5:22 am local time to the sound of thunder very close at hand, and within a few minutes, a hard rain began to fall and lasted 25 to 30 minutes. Out here we rarely get a steady, all day tropical type rain, it's more the short, very intense cloudburst, often with hail, many times the sun will shine while it's raining.

Anywhoo, thanks for the opportunity to whine about it, it appears to have helped!

I was going to start a new thread to say this, but I guess it fits here:

I want to quit my job and both of my bands.

I'm being paid well at work, so I guess I shouldn't complain, but with two masters degrees and 20 years of experience I'm still basically doing grunt work. I have two bosses, both of whom think I don't do anything, probably because I only have half my time for each one.

Wednesday night I brought about $4000 worth of equipment to a gig for which I got paid $16. There were two people in the bar. The band leader keeps asking me to sing lead, and I've given him 7 or 8 songs that I like and can sing, but he doesn't like any of them. Why am I doing this?

I want to quit everything, sell everything I own, get a backpack and a pair of boots and just walk the earth. Whatchu mean 'walk the earth'? You know, like Caine on Kung Fu.

Do it!

Im waiting for my girlfriend to get her masters and become a university professor.
She's willing to support us while I till the land and set us up to live as off the grid as possible.

My band decided to let me go yesterday. I've had this happen in the past..with my last band in fact. I have some issues with anxiety that usually crop up in every group I work with and I'm having a hard time dealing with it, but in each instance I get a little better..just not good enough where people want me around.

It sucks because I was really close to these guys. I'm also extremely dedicated and hard working, but that didn't seem to matter. They even brought up issues with my playing, which I've tried to work on for a long time, and again they've slowly gotten better. But in the same breath they'll say "But you're not a bad player at all! If you were, we wouldn't have kept you around for this long". Than why even bother mentioning my playing at all? If I am not giving the right vibe in the band because of personal issues I have (no drugs or anything like that, just the anxiety), just say that. Don't bring my playing into it and say it's an issue and then say it's not..

What is up with people standing in doorways to talk? I'm at work moving boxes and chairs from one room to the next, and two of my co-workers (on break, allegedly) are chatting in the doorway. I say to them, "I'm going to be carrying heavy stuff through this door for the next 15 minutes or so. If you could move away from the door, I'd really appreciate it." They looked at me like I had a serious problem. I'm getting work done, they're standing around wasting space, and I'm the problem?!

The garbage bags with the "ears" instead of tie straps. I don't like 'em one bit!

Agree!
Stupid and pointless!

Agree! Waste of time and effort!

Totally relate! People are stupid and inconsiderate!

Things got a little heated here a few days ago. We have squatters in the houses next to mine, and they're nice people, but kinda antisocial. Fridge, sofa and other junk in the yard, you know the type. Plus, they've got these dogs which are just completely untrained, and usually start to bark at around five am. Dogpoop everywhere, it's a mess. There's been complaints from several people, and they're all apologies and stuff, but nothing changes.

So this past week we've had our towns annual festival, with bands and partying throughout downtown. Their dogs started to bark incessantly from about eight pm. So we went to wearily voice our complaints again when they were still going at one am; turns out no one's home and their dogs are on the second floor, just barking into the street with the windows open wide. What the hell!
My roommate has his room right next to their house so he ended up calling the police. He just had to mention the street and they knew what was up - apparently they've had a lot of complaints about them.

The police show up, can't do squat. So they call animal rescue out of bed to come collect these dogs. They arrive after the squatters came back though, and can't do anything because the owners are on the premises. Now it's about two thirty, half the block has come to see what the hubbub's about, and the police end up giving 'a stern warning' to a group of squatters, half of whom are by my estimate on coke or something similar. And then everyone just up and leaves!

Pfff, I'm glad my room is on the other side of our house :D

I hate it when the drummer tries to do a big fill and can't make it back to the 1 on time. It makes the whole band sound sloppy.

I played with a drummer in one band who would start these amazingly complex fills, and I'd think, "Uh-oh - train wreck coming." Every single time, the rhythm was accurate and he'd make it back to the one, no sweat. Then I'd start laughing and look back at him and he'd start laughing. Great fun.

Why should I care about William and Kate's baby arriving? Why do ALL major media outlets insist on cramming it into the first 10 minutes of their "news" broadcasts? Even the local stations follow suit and that takes away from the weather forecast that normally consumes half of the program? Why does weather take HALF of a broadcast half-hour anyway?

Is this royal crumb muncher really going "to rule" anything? I can understand it if the British are excited, but do I have to have it shoved up my keister when more important things are happening, like a viral YouTube video or the usual fuel price increase?

I'm glad that people can reproduce and I wish anyone who does all the joy involved in parenting, but gimme a break. Why do I care about this silver spoon-sucking kid, or the abomination that was recently popped out of that no-talent, big bootayed Kardashian?

It's good fill/puff. Easy to report on, easy to hype, facts are limited so it's hard to screw up(although I'm sure they will find a way)

Quit watching "the news".
