A thread for with which to vent.

Today, the new techie phone hit the mailbox. The Samsung Galaxie Discover works, but it took at least 5-10 mins. to setup those app thingies for several music forums, and at least 8 more minutes to figure out how to use them.

My time is worth something! :rollno:

I drive on California's roads 3/4 of my week. I've seen a lot of things that make me crazy.

In Los Angeles signaling a turn/lane change translates to other drivers as:

"I plan to get into YOUR lane, ahead of YOU, and it should be seen as a sign that I think I am just more important than YOU, so it would probably be best for all of us - and especially YOU - if you would speed up and block me from making the mistake of merging in front of YOU. "

If there are huge signs that say a lane ends, and to merge, and there's a backup of cars which have already done this merge thing, and you decide that bypassing everyone and jumping in at the last second will make you popular.
You are wrong.
I'm not letting you in. You can just sit there.

+1. There's a particular exit ramp here that gets stacked up for 1/4 mile or so. Folks dive into openings near the ramp all the time. I'm the king of blocking this, glued to the bumper of the car ahead. Pointless really, but it makes me feel better.

While waiting behind flatbed trailer in stop and go traffic I noticed he pulled over so the berm (with guardrail) was half blocked. Just then this guy comes to an abrupt stop next to me. I just shook my head "no" and proceeded closely behind the truck. I don't really know how long he sat there because no one would let him in. Priceless!

I'm good at it too. If it's someone on my left side, then I will stay to the left of the lane, and steer slightly out of the lane with the front corner of my car to the offenders side to make it even harder.

On the other hand, I'm great at getting in. I can spot the texters a mile a way...wait until the car ahead of them pulls away while they are looking down, and then zip right in.

Don't know what the deal was but I was coming home with the family from Cedar Point(amusement park) on the Ohio Turnpike, SUnday evening, everybody just wants to get home. We are all flying close to 95 mph, I'm in the left lane of 2, sucking the driver aheads exhaust. A limo gets on my tail and start flashing me. I'm thinking no ** way. At a point he tries to PASS me on the LEFT, on the gravel shoulder. Suddenly realizes he is coming up on a guardrail. He backpedaled on the brakes, did a crazy dance and got back behind me. And then all the windows on the Limo opened and a bunch of single finger salutes appeared. Whatever.

Dude, I'm steaming. My wife, who has a very heavy hand, comes over to my computer/gaming/amp/bass practice area. As with her usual clumsy self, knocks my bass over and dings the matching painted headstock. 3 years of perfect condition and now this. You know that split second where the bass is falling but you cant do anything about it? Like that split second is in slow motion and seems to last forever?

I'm feeling like a grumpy old man but stay away from my ****. If she wasn't so careless, it might be a different story.

Now I get to fight myself inside my head, feeling like Lester Burhnam from American Beauty, "It's JUST a couch Carolyn." But is it?

Too many people confuse hedonism and epicureanism, it's sad.

This mystifies me: grown adults that refuse to learn something simple, to their own benefit, and become defensive and say stuff like "What difference does it make? The result was the same." Then they evoke the word associated with the SS because that's where their intellect ends. Assistance equated with fascism. Dayum.

The difference is in being correct. Nothing more. And so on.

Go ahead ninny, be an idjit all your life. Being a subscriber to the idea "learn at least one thing a day", that someone far wiser than you or I suggested, makes a teacher a totalitarian? Riiiiight. Mystifying.

Oh, and liver; I hate liver.

Heh - my guitard melted down because I told him his wife's gig pictures were fuzzy - and gave educated suggestion of rising ISO speed and offered use of my tripod. And he knows my job relies on me taking very good photographs of items I am selling. Basically I got a big F 2 the U. I like the saying, "he who askes a question is a fool for 5 minutes, he who doesn't is a fool forever."

So I walk to my car to drive to the gym and notice my doors are unlocked. When I get in I see my glove box is open and papers are strewn about. Fortunately all that was missing was an emergency kit I keep in the glove box.

I've only lived in San Antonio for a little over a year but have been robbed 3 times, one of which was at gunpoint. Between that and a slew of other factors I'm this close to quitting my job, packing my bags, and heading east to start over in the Carolinas or Virginia.
