A Very Disappointed Customer

Not very proud of it then are they.

Here is the "warranty"
Notice PEELS are NOT covered.

The MONO Lifetime Warranty

All MONO products are guaranteed for life against defects in materials and workmanship. If you think something is not right with your MONO product, that makes us sad and we want to fix it! So here's what to do: If you bought your MONO product in the United States:
No receipt necessary.

If you bought your MONO product outside of the United States:
We might need to see a copy of your receipt. If you can't provide a receipt we may still be able to help you so please contact us anyway:

  • take some photos of the issue
  • send the photos and a copy of your receipt to [email protected]
  • if you don't have your receipt it would still be helpful to know where and when you made your MONO purchase so include that info in lieu of a receipt, please
Special note to our U.K. customers: U.K. law dictates you must contact the local dealer where you purchased your MONO product for any warranty claims. However, we are here to answer any questions and help you with that if you need us!

We want you to be as happy with your MONO stuff as we are to be making it!

COVERED: defective sewing/stitching, defective zippers, attachment hardware, and/or clips.

NOT COVERED: Reasonable wear and tear such as rips, tears, peels, and fading.

Legal Stuff:

MONO CREATORS LLC PRODUCT WARRANTY MONO Creators LLC ("MONO") warrants its products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal and proper usage and service for a period of three years from the date of purchase. MONO’s obligation under this warranty is limited to replacing or repairing, at MONO’s option, products, or parts determined by MONO to be defective in materials or workmanship. If the product has been superseded, replacement will be made with a current model of the same quality and equivalent function.

All warranty claims must be made in writing, by mail or email, giving full product details and date of purchase. MONO will then determine if the issue is covered under warranty and as such, will issue a replacement along with a return label for sending the defective product back to MONO (U.S. returns only). This warranty is given to the original purchaser of the goods only and cannot be assigned, except with the prior written agreement of MONO.

This warranty does not cover any defects or costs caused by: (1) modification, alteration, repair or service of this product by anyone other than MONO; (2) physical abuse to, overload of, or misuse of, the product or operation thereof in a manner contrary to the accompanying instructions; (3) any use of the product other than that for which it was intended; or (4) shipment of the product to MONO for service. This warranty does not cover apparel. Mono reserves the right to revise product warranty and other store policies without notice.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHALL MONO BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, PERSONAL INJURY, PROPERTY DAMAGE, DAMAGE TO OR LOSS OF EQUIPMENT, LOST PROFITS OR REVENUE, COSTS OF RENTING REPLACEMENTS AND OTHER ADDITIONAL EXPENSES, EVEN IF MONO HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

ANY EXPRESS WARRANTY NOT PROVIDED HEREIN, AND ANY REMEDY WHICH, BUT FOR THE WARRANTY CONTAINED HEREIN, MIGHT ARISE BY IMPLICATION OR OPERATION OF LAW, IS HEREBY EXCLUDED AND DISCLAIMED INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS, AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS, WHICH MAY VARY FROM JURISDICTION TO JURISDICTION.
Thanks xgator4u! It's very informative. I rather wait for mono's reply before jumping into any conclusion:)

Rubber trim peeling after just a few weeks is, IMHO, no 'Reasonable wear and tear'. When the rest of the bag is crispy clean while the piping is peeled, I bet Mono will feel the same way. The OP has nothing to lose by contacting them. All they can say is no, which, after my experience, I bet they won't.

Before ripping the company, you should always give them a chance to make it right. They could have very easily gotten a bad batch of piping material from their suppliers and put out a batch of gig bags with this problem. There is a good chance they are already aware of the situation and will take care of it for you.

Yeap I totally understand. That's why this thread is not about ripping the company or defaming mono like I've said. It's about documenting how mono reacts to defects like this. The post also expresses my disappointment. After all won't you be disappointed if you recieve a faulty product? Same principal. It's not like I'm hating on them or something...

I've received plenty of faulty products, that happens, its all about how the company handles it.

i'd be interested to hear the outcome of this one.

i've got an old gigbag that was expensive back in its day, it's still working 100% but a new one may be in my near future. Mono seems to be "the name" in good quality gigbags, but stories like this matter to me.

we'll see. im anticipating a happy ending, but you never know.

I always wondered why InCase stopped making them.

How ironic, I asked them that same question today (I work with them) and I'm going to see if they would price a multiple bag purchase from TB members. Put simply, if any item sells well and makes the desired margin, it doesn't get discontinued. I brought home a 2-bass bag and a single guitar one. Great bags.

Yeah, as I figured, it was just surprising as I had always heard good things from many happy purchasers, and they appear a pretty with-it company...and found that case pretty spot-on.

I would LOVE a DUB or even a single if they're entertaining the idea. Right on man, thanks.

Most are quick to complain, but slow to provide follow up.
It's not that I'm slow to provide follow up. But I don't wish to flame mono without reaching a conclusion. As of now, mono isn't replying me anymore. The claim took more than a month to process as they claim there was a shortage of stock from their Singapore distributor. They haven't replied since and I haven't got a replacement. I'm not gonna email them anymore and just take this as an unlucky encounter.
