A very Geddy Thanksgiving.

Drat! I was supposed to be going to my sister in law’s house for a Thanksgiving feast today, but tested positive for the dreaded covid this morning. I have been under the weather and there are several immune compromised guests, so I took a test to be on the safe side. This means no turkey and stuffing, no cranberry sauce, no pumpkin pie! Maybe I can get someone to slingshot some leftovers towards my pie hole on the way home.
On the plus, I can hunker down and finish Geddy Lee’s autobiography. I’m sure some of you are reading it as well. I really appreciate how honest he has been in it, discussing some of the emotional ups and downs he had faced over the years. The chapters on his parents surviving the holocaust are harrowing and so important in understanding his background. I even enjoy the pettiness of him remembering which bands hosed them I’m soundchecks or decent lighting back in their opening act days. Geddy remembers.

Sorry friend. Your in-law’s turkey was dry anyway. If it was really great as your brother had to say they wouldn’t wait 12 months to eat it again.

Here’s some fried chicken. Spent about 36 hours in buttermilk and hot sauce. We use to have turkey but be honest, it’s gross and you don’t like it as much as you like just being with your family.
Hope you feel better.

Finished the audiobook yesterday, loved it! Getting a physical copy is on my Christmas list too, but having Ged read the book to me was nice.

Sorry about your Thanksgiving stateside. The Geddy book's a great idea, though. I wasn't aware that he had done an audiobook version and that's going on my Audible list. I've been listening to Patrick Stewart's autobiography in his rather ancient voice while I've been driving my daughter around in the last while. Highly recommended. Great story about him first meeting Paul McCartney when Jane Asher was in the Royal Shakespeare Company with Patrick. Macca blows into Patrick's dressing room, the latter in his underwear, and tosses him the keys to his Aston Martin DB4 (which Patrick had always wanted to drive). :bookworm:

I'm sorry your Thanksgiving was canceled and you have covid but, you did good in my opinion.

My son is immune compromised (for over 30 years now). Well before covid we were having to deal with people who couldn't care less about his health. Family members who wouldn't think twice about going to a family gathering sick, running a fever, etc. Over the years we missed a lot of Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations.

Good on you for being responsible and caring! Enjoy the book and get well soon.

It’s all about stuffing, anyway. Turkey can take a running jump.

I did not know that...Wow....I would like to hear their story...Thank God they survived!

He interjects it into his book in a graceful, but purposeful and powerful way. It will make your appreciation of the band that much deeper to realize the fundamental background of Alex and Geddy. To vastly oversimplify: both children of parents who survived the very worst and gave up everything to forge a new life of hope in Canada. Both of them dropping out of high school to pursue rock music as a “career”.
