i got an omega for my communion (catholic thing you have to do when you are 6 or 7, donno what it's called in english). it still works, very simple watch and indestructible. the glass is made out of saphire, basically meaning you can only scratch it with a diamond (or if you insist, with a sledghammer too)
everyone in the family has an omega ,and they have worked faultlessly over the past 20+ years.
a couple of years ago i bought a second hand breitling, it's crap, it breaks all the time. i'm sick of having it fixed, so it's broken permanently now.
dave64, if you want a new band you don't have to get one from the manufacturer of the watch. there are a couple of standard width bands which you should be able to get from any store that sells decent quality watches. they'll have one that fits and that you like. make sure you keep the original clip on it though. thats how i do it for my omega. went to a store once and asked about a new band, original omega 250 euro. same band from the same manufacturer without omega on it 120 euro.
still too expensive so now i just get cheap ones that fit.
also, if you are a bit patient you can change the band yourself, its really easy, all you need is a very small screwdriver, or even a swiss army knife will do.
