The Pre-CBS Jazz Bass I bought for $250 in 1975 and sold for $500 to pay for food when I was broke and in music school (at a very callow 19).

Yes, I know that's a Kay.

It wouldn't cost much to put a new pin in that pre CBS Jazz Bass.
You need a longer or shorter wooden dowel?

LISTEN UP!
I've played Brandon's bass because we go to the same high school and I must say it is a fine sounding bass. It has a few dings in the trimming, but its nothing to scream over I mean its still great looking.
There are a few dowers; the action is REALLY high with the bridge he has on now. I takes lots of strength to hold down a 4th finger F on the D string. Another thing is the end pin is not adjustable. As I've been told, it never has been adjustable but you can buy a new one for circa 50 bucks.

Rosewood fingerboard, sunburst finish, tortoise shell pickguard, great shape except for the usual buckle damage on the back.

That looks like the one I played in high school. Except mine had the nice peeling veneer thing happening on about an eighth of the back.

So get an adjustable bridge fitted by a good luthier, probably an overall setup, and an adjustable endpin. Maybe some new strings?

Tell your drum and guitar store guy to go pound some sand, in a loving way, of course...

If your teacher really is the bomb, have him direct you to a good local luthier, and you're off, and playing better than ever...

I don't see anything wrong with that Kay besides a few cosmetic dings, but if you're determined to give it away for cheap, sign me up.


My luthier is awesome. The extra cost for shipping and setup would be worth it.
