How did this thread go to 6 pages? I know you're probably a BG player, Brandon, and I know that the BG threads could get a little crazy. Just note that unless the thread topic is special and noteworthy, threads on the DB side rarely become this long, and even rarer after only 4 days. That says a lot about the members replying to your posts on this thread: they're only trying to help you.
Also, Brandon, I have a ton of trouble understanding you. Sometimes your posts are coherent enough, while others, like your original post, are almost unintelligible.
My first bass, which is now my only bass, had many of the same problems as yours. High string height ('action' is called 'string height' on DBs), wolftones all over the place, bad bridge, bad soundpost, seems opening, etc. Not pretty. But I was able to go to a professional luthier and get everything fixed up for about $200 or so (the actual cost was closer to $300, but my parents were able to get him to agree on $200); it played and sounded great after that. So it doesn't cost that much to get your bass playable.

I have had my share of basses, and new doesn't necessarily equal great sounding. You could put half the cost of a new plywood bass into a new fingerboard, new end pin, bridge, and a set of good orchestral strings and that bass would be a great playing instrument.

sorry if that sounded bad. but if you really played my bass, please understand that you would see that it needs much work. its almost unplayable right now. I know its a great bass, just not worth putting allot of money for it. It has been sitting in standing water for at least a week, and has suffered from the water damage, and wont hold a glue.
there are so many things wrong with this thread and particularly this statement.
give the bass to someone else NOW!

this thread has been a complete waist of bandwidth, a kid asks something, a lot of good guys wasted way too much time giving him GREAT advice, but he doesnt want to listen, he knows a lot about basses, in fact i dont know why he come here to ask advice
theres no coherence at all in Brandon's speech, maybe its normal and a consequence of his age?, i dont remember anymore when i was 14 except that i wish i had a Kay , in fact, i wish i had any bass at all, i had to wait till 16 after selling ice creams to get half of the money for my 1st bass... a czech bass that was so heavy and had such a thicker neck that after playing on that bass for 4 years, i was happy to play any bass.... ok, back to topic, if you dont like your Kay, sell it, give it away to somebody, make someone happy, in my opinion, whatever condition the Kay is, you dont deserve it! i think you dont have much to do and you come here writing whatever comes to your mind....and people keep answering you trying to help you... how fortunate you are? so many good advice for free.....

a pea size dent. whatever. best bass i ever played was a kay from the 1960's that had been beat to death, was painted dookie brown, had the word 'ookie' scratched in the side of it, was missing most of the edges of the top and bottom of the instrument, once had gut strings on it for a long time, had a badly home-job sanding job done on the bridge, and was simply a marvelous sounding instrument with the best playability. everyone in the school wanted to play ookie because it was so good.

Here's an offer for you. I will come take your bass, fix it up to sell.
I believe it would sell for close to $2000. When it sells, I split the profit with you. You can't play the bass now and would get money for another bass.

haha try selling my bass for more than $1000, and I will sell my belongings, to buy somthing stupid. I have had the bass for about 2 years. Before me, it was the origional owner who hated it soo much and couldnt sell it because of the shape it was in. He gave it to me for free. He had it in his basement when Katrina hit in New Orleans. Flooded everything, and bass was ruined, But it dried out and was somewhat playable. The strings on it right now are original.

The Mary Kay cosmetics line was perfect.
I've been looking into double basses; It looks like Brandon might be about to hook me up with a nice instrument at a killer price.
Brandon, as someone that's made many bad choices in terms of gear acquisition - heed the advice of your superiors.
These guys know their stuff.
Otherwise someone like me will rip you off.

I have seen (and, admittedly, practiced) a lot of bizarre, phillistine, willful behavior in my modest life. This discussion here sort of reminds me of trying to help a junkie get clean who isn't ready yet. "Yeah, I'd love to take your help, maybe even go to a meeting, but I'm kinda busy right now..."
