Abalone veneer

It's very thin (.006"), self adhesive. I'm planning on using a bit of it as a decorative logo on the headstock. I'm also doing a wood veneer over the entire headstock.
The question is do I inlay like traditional thicker abalone, or being so thin do I just stick it on top and seal over with my finish?

Hi.

Can You really cut a .006" cavity for the inlay?

If I was to do something like that, I'd just apply (and clear-coat) it like a decal as You already planned to.
