I've heard it a million times. I can play the bass parts from beginning to end. I know every word. I could probably sing the guitar parts and air drum the drum parts perfectly. I want you (she's so heavy) came on on my iPod in the car when I was a few minutes away from my house. I took it off shuffle cuz I wanted to hear the rest of the album. I parked my car before Here Comes the Sun was over and I sat there outside my house and listened to the rest. I don't know why I feel the need to share this but it's truley is one of the greatest pieces of any kind of art ever created. If you haven't heard the whole thing through in a while, give it a listen.

I agree that it's one of the greatest pieces of art created. Ever. I also have listened to it many, many times. So visionary, especially for it's time. This came out at about the same time as Court of the Crimson King, Tommy, Led Zeppelin 1 & 2, and the first Grand Funk Railroad album.

What an exciting time.

Side 2 is the perfect album side.

One of my friends had been after me to come to his house and listen to some Mobile Fidelity albums he's been collecting on his parasound all tube stereo. We listened to Abbey Road. It was good.

I usually play bass to the Beatles everyday and lately I've taken a three week break but any mention of the Beatles like this thread ignites that pilot light of my obsession for anything Beatles congrats to the OP for bringing this up.

Mine too (favorite), if I had to pick one. I just played along to the whole CD yesterday as well. (My wife is probably sick of it. I probably play that CD once every 2 weeks or so.) Definitely a "desert island" album...

It's like they knew the end had come. Despite all the differences and squabbling, they could put that all aside and still come out with arguably their best effort. A fitting end to a phenomenal group that changed the course of music and will stand the test of time forever.

Without a doubt it's one of the greatest albums ever recorded. And when it comes down to it Abbey Road is always at the top of my list of desert island discs.

When my daughter was born and we took her home from the hospital? The first music I played for her on that car ride home was part of Abbey Road. I wanted to start her off with something beautiful to listen to, so I skipped ahead to "Here comes the sun". I drove pretty slow on that first ride home, and let her hear everything from "Here comes the sun" all the way through "Her Majesty".

My Dad bought Abbey Rd when it came out and he used to play it occasionally, I was about 5 at the time. I remember that was the first time I was emotionally moved by music. It would give me goose bumps. Those harmonies in because, oh man!! That album was the beginning of my life long passion for music. I still get moved by it.
