Earlier this week I decided to trade in my Foundation to local dealer who gave me a good price because I have been having a terrible time with the neck tilt adjust. I had to send it to a tech for a set up, something that is uneconomical for a Sub-$200 bass. I decided to get an Ibanez GSR-206 because it plays well and get a nice Jazz style sound although it has very close spacing, which is kind of rough on a six.
I went in today to pick it up and was playing with my favorite Ray35, which is natural finished ash with a maple fingerboard. One of the salesmen then tells me that I might as well buy the Ray35, since all the Sterlings by EBMM are marked for closeout! When I saw how little the difference was between an entry level Ibanez and the Ray35 on closeout, I bit. This evening, I will take home a new Ray35 for under $600!!!
I'll post pics when I can, but I am pretty happy. I am a serious SR5 fan, but times have really been tight. I cannot express how happy I am to get a bass that is essentially a SR5 for so little money.
