Definteily going to do that. I will still do a mini cab test with a few other. I already committed to some. But based on conversation Mike and I have had (and now a Sadowsky/Aguilar/Accu report from you) the decision is all but done.

kjones played a RED NYC P/J 4 w/ rosewood board when I was there. I am very sad that I canceled my sadowsky order earlier this year. I need to start getting paid LOL.

I'm definitely going to pick me up at least one Tri112L to use on small church gigs. Its going to look funny carting around that small cab and my DB750 though! heh.

REALLLLLY? Hmmm?

So the Sadowsky P/J/Aggie/Accu kills huh? What type of music was he playing? Describe and compare the tone.

Did you change the preamp tube at all in the DB750? In talking to Tom Bowlus about the DB659 he found that it was a bit loose on the bottom but once he swapped the preamp tube for a NOS Telefunken it really tightened up.

Well I think that kjones wasn't boosting any lows, there were plenty there with the accugroove already.

I don't know if he changed any tubes, but I highly doubt it.

I fiddled around with it for a short time, with my MTD, and then listened to his band play a song. I didn't stay very long, I had kids waiting at home heheh. Had to save my wife, you know :) So, they were playing a sort of blues jam song, very jazzy to my ear. It was pretty long, with lots of parts, so I could really tell how he was fitting in their rehearsal mix.

Kjones has a great touch, his tone was everything I was expecting from that sadowsky. Very clear, with that p-bass roundness, some warmth, but basically what I would expect that bass to sound like.. just louder with crazy dynamics. He goes to do some solo runs and stuff, and just has to dig in a little to get that extra bit of articulation and snap. It was very cool. Nothing mushy, slow, saggy, boomy, or any of those other adjectives I see people describe tubes or the DB750.

To me this is surprising, as up until last week I played an EBS-HD350! You'd think I would HATE the DB750, as it theoretically couldn't be any more opposite from what I am used to. I should have my DB750 today, and I plan to use it at a gig tomorrow night. Though, it'll just be the direct out to our Bose PAS. (kind of off-topic heheh, sorry).

Well yes, they are clear. What goes in, pretty much comes out, in my expereince. I guess I should have pointed out that I never had a "problem" with the Tri210L until I was really pushing it. My band is loud. It was great for anything I did in church. But at the volumes, the low-end was just a bit much. Geez, I never thought I would say that heheh

I tell you getting the Tri210L and my MTD 535 were the two best things I ever did. Really forced me to clean things up!

I played my red PJ and my fretless P-bodied, J-pickup, quilt-top Sadowskys. I play rock, jazz, and just about any other darn thing with both of them. The tone is almost indescribably good because of the combination of articulation and power. (The basses are 4131 and 4434.)

There is no way you could describe mine as loose on the bottom. Tight and with slam. All original tubes.

When Sean was there, I had the EQ flat, and no treble or bass boost on, altho I demo-ed them to him.

And btw, Sean, I've played my 750 in its rack on top of the 112L. Looks funny, sounds great!

Curious about how the sound of the A-string differs between yours, as one has the pole-pieces the the back half and one in the front half of the P-pickup?

That was a mistake in placement. THe Quilted one is now setup just like the Wine bass.
