Well, keep in mind, the conversion rate of US Dollars to the Pound Sterling is about as good as its ever been in recent history, so now is a great time to purchase a UK-made bass. Plus, Alan's prices are, to be honest, not as high as they should be, considering his skill and the quality of his basses.

Thanks Mr Wraub. What Tom is saying is very rue regarding the exchange rate don't think it has been like this since 1985.

The pickup former for the new guitar range CNC aluminium with the new logo.
They don't look like a lot of work but here is a list of the steps and those involved.
Haydn Williams. He did the CAD work on the pickup shape creating the file that would be handed to the engineer that did the work on the aluminium.
Linnhe Mara Cringean. She took my rough drawing for the logo and refined it and improved it.
Ewan Beck. He photoshopped the pencil drawing into a useable file.
The CAD drawing done by Haydn was then sent along with the logo file to Paul Hair at AI Engineering. Problem with the file format.
Back to Haydn who resent the files in various formats and Ewan converted the original logo file into the DXF format.
Sent again to Paul, all good this time.
Paul did the CAD work to combine the pickup shape with the logo and machined the two formers today and I picked them up this evening from his house.
Tomorrow they will be sent to Aaron Armstrong in order to get moulds made for the first batch of pickups. There will be a discussion as to what I am looking for from the pickups and I will be happy to take advice from Aaron as I have done from day one for over 10 years now.
So as you can see quite a few talented people involved in something that on the face of it looks quite simple.
You will also notice I have very little to do with this. But if I have any talent it is having such a good network of talented friends to work with.

No it is going to be stained a deep black.

It has been a funny summer in so much as it has gone by and I barely noticed. Been busy with customer orders, building the two new guitar models and getting stock ready for the Holy Grail Guitar Show in Berlin. So very few days of only 4 games of cricket played out of 18 so I just noticed summer has gone and being in Scotland the window was small and I missed it and feel some what cheated. So I had a day off yesterday weather was crap so what did I do I processed wood for future builds. Now I can see looking from the outside that is not a day of but from my perspective it was. Been working so hard at finishing instruments lately which takes a lot of focus and concentration the comparatively simple job of working with boards of wood was actually a day off.



So batch of guitar necks were done and some bass necks glued up some finger boards cut to size and a pile of Swamp Ash boards machined closer to useable sizes. A bit of tiding up and reorganising the wood store made the rest of my day off.

I just noticed summer has gone and being in Scotland the window was small and I missed it and feel some what cheated.

Had to laugh at that - I am exactly the opposite - summer drags on forever, with me wishing it would just be over with, and winter goes by much too quickly....

Nice pile of wood there. Love watching your work!

I am sure if we got 5 months of great summer weather I would be moaning about it being to warm etc but I would be willing to give it a try just once to see what it was like. Summer here is brief, spring autumn and to a degree winter all blend into one dark damp miserable season. Never used to bother me but it does now.
