I know bass aesthetics are completely subjective but the Finn is definitely my favourite shape. Hints of the traditional but more elegant, refined, lean.

What is the advantage of the acrylic impregnation for an (assumed) fretted fingerboard?

Hi
They are harder denser more stable than untreated wood but the big advantage for me is that I don't have to spray them to keep the maple clean. So if you don't like the feel of a lacquered finger board but would like a maple board this stuff does the job.

That'd be a big plus for me - I'm no fan of sticky gloss on necks.

Not yet, it will be a £50 option,it takes a lot longer to do with regard to finishing.

The grunge black is a nice twist. But I can't get past the natural finishes, especially on such a nice piece of wood as my black limba.

They are excellent natural finishes. I like the painted look as well, and it seems to be more "acceptable" in certain circles.

Missed this - good thinking! We weren't in bonus territory last year but I worked an extra week (sold holiday back) and sold another 5-string to get mine. Some things are just worth it.
