I was in Baton Rouge two weeks ago, at the Belle of B.R. I have been thinking seriously about this cab. Wish there was some way we could have gotten together. (I am in Bastrop)

Acme B112 Full Range 8ohm review

Just following up on this thread. Now I have 2 gigs under my belt with the ACMEs.
First gig was a bit weird. It was a casino, grumpy soundman, weird crowd (surprise, it was a casino
), guitar player too loud, etc. Despite the fact that I know these ACMEs are less sensitive, I was holding back on twisting up the volume knob to levels I haven't had to use before (with more sensitive cabinets). I guess it was just a mental thing...this coupled with grumpy soundguy who made comments about the size of my rig and the guitar players rig had me a bit timid, and so I was really too quiet. Others in the band commented I wasn't loud enough. So it wasn't a good night.
Last night was gig #2. This time I gave the ACMEs the power they want/need...and daaaayyuuum! These things move some earth. This was an outdoor gig, concrete band-shell. My previous experience is that in these conditions its very hard to get good "bottom" happening on stage, but I fed the ACMEs a healthy diet of Crown K2 power and everything was there. I used to always boost the bass eq to bring up the thump, but ran flat across all eq knobs except for a cut at 2.5k to control string noise (strings are new). Very happy with my choice of these cabinets.

Doing another zombie thread resurrection. I'm looking at the B-1 (a pair) the B-2 (too heavy) and the B112FR.
Thinking the B112FR may be better since the B-1 probably will not stand on it's own and the B-2 is too friggin heavy for this geezer.
In terms of volume, will the B112FR equal a pair of B-1's?
Amp would likely be a tube/SS hybrid - 800 watts.

Nothing made by Acme is suitable for slapping, don't even try it.Subscribing to this thread as I have a keen interest in the Acme 112 full range. However, KJung's comments about the speakers NOT being appropriate for slappers a little concerning.
Would anyone else say the same thing - that it's not suitable for slap?
KJung, you must run your rig at deafening volumes!
