Acoustic is BACK!!!!

No toes stepped on. I was yanking yer chain some. IIRC you're a youngster out in LA. You did a tour of Europe last year and we exchanged some discussions back and forth. Don't know if you remember.

Yea, I remember. I also remember the war that started because some people didn't think I could have an informed opinion about sound etc because I wasn't being wheeled onstage prior to my evening stroke.

I know that Acoustic was damn good in the 70's and 80's, but what I tried out in Guitar Center was just junk. Acoustic something head with 200 watts through a 410 (all the new stuff) and I did not even boost the low end and made that amp crap out immediately. I distorted the cabinet right away and please keep in mind that the bass knobs on the bass and the head were perfectly flat. It was a clean tone, but there was absolutely no headroom. I was not playing anything too crazy, just simple finger lines.

Those old Acoustic cabs were excellent in the efficency department/and/or projected bass tones amazingly well and that's where the misconception of "why can't a 200 watt head be that loud anymore?" comes from. Folded Horn cabs? Wish I could play through one of those!

So honestly, I think the new Acoustic products at Guitar Center do no live up to the older Acoustic products. And no, I have tried any of the old Acoustic products, but based on how so many people rave about them.....I can comfortably say I am on to something.
