Acoustic is BACK!!!!

Pedro...I know that Bass Gear magazine WILL be getting one of the first units to do an extensive review - the first anywhere. We'll definitely do the 'back story' and get the answers to your questions. Many of the 'come backs' of famous brands were in name only. Not Acoustic USA - they are about as much of a 'real deal' as you can get from a 40 year product revival.

That will be great, I'll look forward to it. However, summer NAMM will be over with before we get a look at your first mag featuring winter NAMM... The new Acoustic line may be old news by the time you get to it.

Just seemed kinda flat and lifeless. Not much punch or sparkle.
Had to turn it up past halfway to get loud enough. Seems like the 4x10 + 1x15 should have have had more oomph.

I think a lot of the 360's tone was from the massive folded 18 cab.

I didn't think it sounded bad by any means and wouldn't feel bad about gigging one.

They look great and the price is very reasonable.

And to be fair, hardly anything sounds good to me in a GC showroom.

Wow... thats weird. I had a completely different experience trying out the amp. I just couldn't believe at how musical and alive the EQ section sounded. The amp had a good balance of it's own tone while at the same time allowing me to dial in...ME. I haven't gigged with one but I cranked it up to an acceptable volume in the store and I dont believe it would have any problem keeping up with a moderatly loud band. I summerized my impression on the Acoustic forum if you want to go there and read about what I found. I also had the chance to hear a real 360 rig for the first time within a few days of trying the new Acoustics. There is a thread about that as well.

I played several 360/371 rigs in the '70s, so I was GASsed to find a 200H with 4x10 and 1x15 at a local GC last night.

Only 200watts and the tone was underwhelming.

I'll wait on the 360/371 re-issue, thanks.

To each his own I guess, "underwhelming" or just overly nostalgic for the days when everything was bright and sunny. I played that rig, and bought that rig. I am sorry to say I never played a 360/371 rigs back in the 70's. I just know a great musically sounding amp with 200watts RMS a 4x10 & 1x15. But, then again I'm not playing the Garden, wait--wait, wasn't the wattage on the 360 series 200w RMS. But, I understand how could be "underwhelming" it didn't have a rear-facing 18" Cerwin-Vega loudspeaker, maybe....:eyebrow:

I don't understand Bottomend, don't you have a bunch of old Acoustics? How did the new stuff compare?

I wasn't trying to be rude. I figured that people with Acoustic interest already knew about the forum and I had posted it a few times in other threads so I didn't wanna come off as a salesman etc. My bad.

New stuff;

FWIW, I think the 'rude' comment was made in jest. I certainly never thought it was anything but an oversight.

lets see how popular these are in 30 years, lol. (not) what happened to the speakers? that was 2/3 of thier sound. they are tiny. johnny a (former 360folded horn cab owner)

That "question" covers ALOT of things produced today!

I drive a 1974 VW bus for a reason BTW...and it's NOT because it's popular. It's because the inherent ideology of the design appeals to me. That type of build philosophy has gone the route of the dinosaur. It's a cut 'n paste/toss it in the trash if it breaks world these days. And no, I'm not old, so my memory of a time long past wasn't the most important thing to me when choosing to operate this type of vehicle. I like there to be a practical reason for something to exist. Electric car door windows dont fall into this category. Are your thumbs and forefingers tired from typing too many keystrokes on your computer today from all the stock trading you've done? If not, you can probably manage to roll up your own window.

People seem to relish the thought of sitting in the lap of luxury without considering the impact they leave on the environment. I'm all for advancement but not at the expense of practicality and DEFINITELY not when it bends to the whim of a redefined social "norm". ie "we NEED electric windows in our cars!"

I know what I just wrote may seem a bit off topic but hopfully the dots connect. The reason the old Acoustic stuff is still "popular" is because it's wasn't built TO BE popular (as the notion is defined and invariably worshiped today), it was built to sound good. Period.

Only time will tell if this new move/direction for Acoustic will be able to stand up along side the the already intact heritage that Acoustic has had bestowed upon it by it's long time admirers. I didn't open up the amp to see see the quality or lack thereof lurking inside ( I'm not a tech so I probably wouldn't have known what I'm looking at anyway!) but I know what I heard and I heard a quality sound. I also saw a simple and practical piece of gear.
