Active basses with Pod XT Live

Is there a way to pad down my input level from my bass using the pod XT Live? I cant find a setting for input level. Its a Fender American Deluxe Jazz bass. It is extremely hot, and it seems it distorts no matter how loud I am.
Any Input?

+1, there's also a rotary knob on the back panel as well. It took me a bit to get it dialed in, but once I did it was just fine.

Are you seeing the clip indicator on the XTLive?

I've tried to make it appear, but never have been able to. I too am using an Fender AM DLX, but the output is quite low, less than my passive Carvin.

What I've found works best is to get those pad switches and volume knobs set on the "calibration" patch (16D). This is a 1:1 gain no effects patch.

Then work with the gain and channel volumes to even out each effect (left and right most virtual knobs)

It really helps when you have something with a VU meter to get the levels perfect.

HUGE +1. The various factory effects are nowhere near consistent in their default volume, and some tweaking to balance things out goes a long way. The biggest and best bit of advice for dealing with a POD XT is to put the time in tweaking it. For my own playing a lot of the factory sounds aren't really usable, and I've only put the time in to get a few patches set up that I really like, so I haven't really maximized what it can do for me yet.

+1 to the folks above...you've just got to play with the pad switch and internal levels. I switch between an active and passive all the time, and I've never even had to flip the pad switch (EMG DC's in my active). I just have a separate bank for the active stuff, with lower levels.
