Active Basses: Yay or Nay?

I have very few passive basses. One's a big heavy goof from the 1970's, and one is a modern recreation of a big heavy goof from the 1970's. And then there's the Dyna Bass but that doesn't count because the active electronics are just broken.

Passive works best for me, but to each his own.

What I noticed though, is that the tone on the passive bass will change when you raise or lower the volume...

Seems to me there's a mod to fix that.
