Give me a couple of days and i'll get back to you.Stuart Morgan only started with Adam in 91 or 92 so i might not be able to get heaps of info for you,plus it's a long time ago.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Adam a Fender P and Ampeg SVT guy before making the transition to Lakland and Ashdown?
I thought it was Jazz basses during War, at least from some of the videos. And during the Joshua Tree/Rattle & Hum, he switched to P-Basses.
And didn't he use a Gibson during alot of the Achtung Baby era?
What about compression?
With regard to the settings on his basses, can you offer any advice on his 'general' settings. I have a 2008 MIA Jazz.

Correct,the whole band lost alot of gear in 2001 when there storage room got flooded in Dublin.As Adam prefers to play vintage basses he was short on bass guitars for the Elevation Tour so he tried the Laklands and loved the sound as they sounded vintage.Since then he's aquired about a dozen vintage Fender jazz's which were purchased by Dallas Schoo (Edges guitar tech).Thats why he's mainly using Fender again now.On the last tour (Vertigo) out of a 22 song set he is using Lakland for about 6 songs.Depending on the setlist of course.He replaces all fender jazz pickups with Lindy Fralins and has the action set low/medium.
The only basses he used during the Achtung Baby album were a 73 precision,72 precision and a Les Paul Recording bass with SVT amps.During that tour (Zoo TV)he used the 73 Precision and a 70's jazz delux.Amp wise he had 2x Alemic F28 pre amps and 1 SVT 11-p.
During war he did use jazz basses and SVT's but i can only get and give accurate info from 91 onwards.
He uses a DBX 160A compressor/limiter,settings wise will depend on your style and technique though.I know he only uses minimal settings but you may be different.
Settings depends on the song but he generally has 2 main ones.For the New Years Day,Vertigo,Streets Have No Name kind of tone he has both pickups on full and tone control on full treble.For songs like One,With Or Without You he will use neck pickup full,bridge pickup dialled back about 1/4 with the treble dialled off a tickle more than 1/4.To absolutely nail the exact tone you will need Lindy Fralin pickups but the stock fender pickups get you 90% there.
Can you tell me what treads were on the soles of his trainers at Live Aid?
BTW, the Alembic preamp would be an F2B instead of an F28 I guess?
I saw U2 in 82. He was an Ampeg / Ibanez Musician boy way back then.

Drive and Sub stay on all the time.
For the NYD sound he uses the amp settings i already put up with both pickups on full and tone on full treble.He also adds a slight bit more overdrive through his Line 6 POD.
He uses the same picks as The Edge,they are Blue Herdim picks from West Germany and are rated heavy.They are similar to Jim Dunlop .88 and 1mm but are larger and have a warmer sound to them as well as increased flex.If you try one you won't use anything else.
