Adding shrimp when I boil my strings

I’ve read on here that boiling your strings can bring dead strings back to life. I don’t doubt it and I’m not poking any fun at the idea. If it works it works. But sorry, I can’t resist. How would they be if you add shrimp? When they are done can you throw them on the wall to see if they stick to make sure they are done? How would they do with spaghetti? I’m sure this is an old cheesy joke on my behalf, and please don’t take any offense to this. I personally have never tried this, but if it really works then it works. I’ve even read somewhere that strings were once made with catgut. I’m sure that’s not what you would assume it is.

But I am offended. Adding shrimp would spoil the delicate flavour of my bass string soup.

Well, laugh all you want, but I actually do that regularly, particular for strings I use in my funk band. The shrimp definitely adds that greasy stank to the tone that you just can't get anywhere else.
Might also work for Yacht Rock.

I think just the thread title nailed it. Got a good laugh reading it.:)

Boiled the strings one my first bass with very very old strings. Thought the same thing.
How do you know when they are done? I learned from the internet Add shrimp, perfect
Shrimps done , strings done. Roach of the Sea they say for a snack, new crispy tone. Nothing to loose
What could go wrong?
