Does any manufacture make a tenor (ADGC) or deeper (BEAD) bass for under $1000. I can find Warwicks and Foderas with those tunings. I know you can change the basses, but does anyone make them "stock."

ADGC and BEAD basses

I don't know of any and while that fact may not mean that there are none, the fact that no one else has responded by now may. I would imagine that while there are a lot of alternate tunings in use none of them are popular enough to justify making stock basses for them. Some, like drop D, can be done with merely a string change (if that) and that is likely the most popular alternate tuning. I don't think there is any need to change the nut to go ADGC. BEAD requires (probably but some say not) filing the nut a little for bigger strings. It only takes a set of nut files, a few minutes, and an amount of craftsmanship that most humans are capable of. The files, new strings, and a new bass (not strictly necessary but who's going to turn up their nose at a good excuse to buy a new bass?) will run you less than $1k altogether. I just converted my four string to CGDA and for that I just needed to file the E string slot a little bit with a commonly available 0.125 round file. I marked the bottom of the slot with a marker before beginning. That way when the file started to thin out the marker ink I knew I had gone deep enough. Work slowly and carefully and you will be fine. Or take it to a good shop and have them do it. I think that the change is just too easy for the owner to make or have made locally and the different tunings that would need to be accommodated are just too many for bass manufacturers to cover affordably.

Spector has the Euro 4LX TW-35 I think is the model. It's a 35" scale 4 string neck thru that can be strung BEAD from the factory. Awesome basses Spectors are!
you can tune any bass to those tunings just use a 5 string set and throw away the high g. If you really want to get nuts you can even email circle K strings and theyll make you a set for whatever tension you want at whatever scale length you want.
