advanced search options

when using +xxxxxx +xxxxxx the filtering doesn't appear to be working.

for example +olp +bartolini brings up the exact same results as +olp bartolini and olp bartolini.

i've been trying to use advanced searches for a couple of weeks on other topics with the same results. if i'm doing something wrong please correct me and delete the post!

Advanced search options are currently available for Supporting Members and Mods only (due to the server-intensity of such queries). There is a 3rd party search solution that may solve this, but for now this is how we must do it. Please see this FAQ item for more info:

When logged in as a Supporting member, I search the DoubleBass Strings forum for posts containing either "Dominant" or "Dominants". I can use another string name such as Gamut, and get the same confusing results:

"Dominant" returns 184 hits

"Dominants" returns 262 hits

"Dominant Dominants" returns 87 hits; I'd expect this to return a number greater than either of the first two searches.

"Dominant*" returns the text:
The search term you specified (dominant*) is under the minimum word length (3) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer. If this term contains a wildcard, please make this term more specific

Thank you for all the work TalkBass must entail. Please let me know if I am missing something in the above searches.

"Dominants" returns more results, because most users refer the strings as thomastik 'dominants'.

"dominant domininants" will only return threads that have *both* search terms (hence the lower number). I think the faq may be wrong on this.

To search for threads that have either, do this search:

dominant OR dominants

Looks like the FAQ is wrong, then.

And it's odd why "Dominant*" just returns an error.
