Advice needed...suggestions for hanging basses!

Looks like you got yours sorted, nice work. Wish I had a disposable room that big!
I’m a DIY guy, so I built my own from a poplar board and some hardware.
The little braces are spaced 16”, and the notches for holding the headstocks are spaced at 14”, which is a little wider than most instruments. One nice-sized screw per stud, and these bracket thingies hook over.
I made the first one twenty years ago, for the four instruments I had at the time. Ten years later I made a second one, longer, that holds five more instruments.
Now I need to make another, but I’m out of wall space....

Timely thread...just hung mine yesterday in my new house. All self made...black walnut blocks with 1/4” lag bolts. Heavy duty steel tool hooks with the non-nitro safe rubber coating removed and replaced with 100% natural cotton cord wrap over cotton cloth...grey rubber caps on the ends. Hooks are weight rated at more than 3X what the Hercules hangers are rated for...if your going to engineer something, you might as well over-engineer it, lol!
Just put up one string swing hanger and call it a day. Just leave your basses in the cases.
Part of the fun of having multiple instruments is going through the ritual of taking them out of the case after not playing them for a while. Feels like you just got a new bass.
But, at the music store I worked at, we used that slat wall with hangers that can be moved around. But you are still in for a lot of holes and one piece of wood carrying all of the weight.
What is the ceiling like? I think I have seen some straight down hanger options.

What I love about the Hercules locking hangers is that they swivel quite a bit, so when you bonk the bass it will swing a few inches absorbing the impact instead of slipping off the hook and falling.

Originally, I had used Kobalt slat hangers from Lowes for tools and such.

This worked really well, but I could only hang flat against the wall, not allowing me to hang as many as I wanted. I put some double sided tape on the back of the hangers to keep them sturdy. The slats were around 50 inches long, and I had two in a line on the wall. They were screwed into each stud on that wall. Only way it was falling was if the house collapsed.
For the walls I couldnt get more than a couple of guitars on, I used these:

These worked really well, inexpensive, and would adjust to fit the asymmetrical Fender headstocks.
However, I wanted to put them ALL up there, not just a few. So I got these:

I replaced the Kobalt hangers with them, allowing me to get more hanging in an angle. I went from eight to 11 on the same wall space and could get a twelfth on there. Again, I put some double sided tape on them, mainly because the dont fit as tight as the Kobalt brand that was designed for the slatrail, but they wont come down.
I find that I play different ones more often if I have access to them.

We have a slew of those in our kitchen. Personally, I would never trust using only two screws/cabinet. Lots of weight to be trusted to that few.
